Pete POV
I was strolling in town when a familiar face was having his own business. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Kao had a DSLR and taking a picture of two couples by the brick wall.
"Kao." He said once he was done.
"P'" Kao blinked innocently.
"What are you doing?"
Kao's shoulder sagged like he was expecting something else. "I'm having my part-time job."
"Really? Photoshoot?"
"I'm young. I need money" He said.
I didn't realize I was staring at him that long until he reminded me. I winced at the sound of his voice. "P'Pete, what's wrong?" Kao's voice came out in a teasing way.
"Nothing." I said. Damnit, I got distracted by staring at him. Am I going to have feelings for him? That would be the strangest way to start a relationship.

"What are we going to do here?" Kao asked. We headed to Graiville Black Market.
The place was overcast with faeries, vampires, witches, wizards. If you want your wish come true. Just come here.
When we arrived at one store—mostly it was made of hardwood. I opened the door and there she was.
Sandee. A friend of mine, I've known here three months after my arrival.
"What can I do for you?" She noticed someone was inside her store. Sandee was reading a spellbook.
"Still busy?"
When my voice registered to her ears. She raised her head and she threw her arms around me.
"Pete, I miss you!" She said happily. "And who's this?"
"This is Kao." I introduced. "Kao, this is Sandee, my friend."
"Pete, you never update me that you have a new cute boyfriend!" She squealed.
"He is not—"
"We're enemies—"
We said in unison. Kao and I exchanged looks.
Sandee hummed. "You guys, what is really going on?"
"We're gonna stop Ash." I said.
All the bliss drained from her face. "Ash Knight? But he's the most lethal wizard, like ever?! Pete, what are you thinking?"
"I'm helping Pete. He won't be alone in this," said Kao.
Sandee made a scowling noise like a mother getting pissed off by her kids.
"We need to give you this."
"The Arkana Blade,"
"It would be a great addition to your collection" We headed for the counter where there were spellbooks. Sandee wasn't a wizard. She was a witch. They are humans born with sight, that was why they have their own Cult and their own laws. The difference between a Wizard and a witch. Wizards are born with magic while witches or warlocks practiced it.
"But I have a question...""What is it?"
"Where we can hide the Shadow gem?" I asked.
"I thought it's okay with May?" said Kao. "What are you planning?"
I locked gaze with him. "We need Plan B if things go down."
Kao POV
There was reading fortunes and tarots across Sandee's shop, I left P'Pete alone with her. I thought it was just for reading fortunes but there were others...I found out there were resurrection spells and the old witch told me that it was very useful. Something was dragging me into this. I needed to. I needed to resurrect my family.
I needed them back so that M will be happy.
Pete POV
Kao and I went to the Sweet Devils. There were few people in here, unlike the night when I first encountered some bunch of Gear Hearts and other wizards who would go on a fight with me.
"You don't like ketchup?" I asked after I offer him the bottle. We were in one of the burger stalls.
"I don't like ketchup on my burger," Kao said, licking the mustard off his fingers.
"I thought you like it." I joked and he shot me a look of an assassin. It must be a weird sight for those Dark hunters what Kao was really doing during the day.
"You're weird," I put one ketchup on my finger and I swiped it in his nose.
"Pete!" Kao whined, and my shirt got almost stained by the mustard.
Then a clicking noise distracted us. We spun around and saw Prem Angelus. The thunderbolt of Gear Hearts.
"Pete Reckondale..." He slithered in a circle.
"What the fuck do you want, Prem?" My tone was much more irritated.
Prem dabbed his finger on his bottom lip. "You're still vicious. Very, very vicious" He faltered in front of me. "What I want is...you'd better stay here. You're not welcome in Ravika anymore, Pete."
"I'm what I am now. I don't care what you think."
"What are you now?" He asked me.
My pulse throbbing in my throat. I started blinking. This...monster found a window in the darkest corner of my heart.
"You deceive, manipulate, and kill in the aid of deceivers—who you thought were your friends.
You pretended to be a part of them, to pleased them." He delivered it as if it was a delicious dark joke in his mouth. "to have your pathetic life meaning. But you—being a skillful monster. They're always a part of you, and they'll never. Go. Away.""Leave him alone!" Kao shouted. He rammed his elbow to Prem's face and he went down. I sprang, seizing Kao's arm. His entire body was rigid underneath my hand.
"Quit it!" I snarled. "Get the hell out of here, Prem. If you ever try to...I swear I would beat the shit out of you."
"Lightning against lightning." Prem jerked his chin, he spits blood on the pavement. His lips were bleeding. Kao was watching us as if it would rain today and we would have a hardcore fight. "That's fair enough."
"I'll never forgive you for mocking my past," I told him. "You don't know what I've been through."
"Of course, I know." He looked at the ground for a moment. He straightened and adjusted his Sotus Uniform.
"It wouldn't mean that much to me."Part of me lied, part of me didn't. The Past always lingered but I want to change. I would want to start a new beginning. No matter how hard it is. "Now, leave."
He turned his back on us and started to walk. I heard him chuckle and then he paused. "And you—" He pointed his finger at Kao. "Your brother is in the infirmary."
