Arthit POV
"Now, tell us about this gem..."
Kao flicked his eyes at me. "The Shadow Gem. One of the strongest Supernatural gems. They amplify dark magic itself. I cannot let the King have it."
"So why me?" May asked
"You're an Enchantress. Only your kind and those who mastered ancient magic who can wield this gem." Kao replied.
"Wow. M must have really fallen hard for you. " Bright said to her, and she blushed.
"The Ghost and I can't go near to the arena without trouble. If all of you are willing. We need something for you while you're there." Pete steps forward. "Since two months ago, we sense the blight just two blocks from the arena. A Big tunnel. It already killed half the supernatural forest in the east. It cancels out Faerie and Wizard magic alike. So we recommend to use a weapon against whatever lies in that tunnel."
"But covens from all over Thailand gather in the games." M said.
"Don't you think that you might be a little paranoid?" asked Third.
"Tell me his name again?" I was eyeing Kao.
"Ash Knight." Kao began, finally meeting Pete's gaze. "The King of Shadows. He gets what he wants. He wipes the wizards before on the other side of the town.
He's my adopted father, so as M's. We were trained as his champions since we were little."Kong took two steps to Kao. "Then how M got to Ravika?"
"He pushed me through a portal at Ash's throne. A Demon slayer found me and raised me as her own child, thanks to her." M cuts in.
Kao caught my eyes, continuing with his story. "Father is keeping secrets from his new followers at the Demonoid Tower. The Lancasters, The Vamps—Our biological parents were one of his followers before they killed them. He's a cold-blooded psychopath who has a dream of reviving the Dark Lord."
I saw Kong flinch, like the word 'dark lord' was a punch in the gut.
"You show up here to use us as bait when father will hunt down the gear hearts?" M asked, his face almost closer to his twin.
"Or might as well double-crossed us and you'll give it back to him." Pete added.
"No. He's still a wizard." Kao answered calmly. "But he is immortal now, he found forbidden magic that slows down his age, and he will use it over and over to maintain a twenty-five-year-old look. He has the Hellbreaker sword, and he has an army of Ashram demons. That makes him the strongest wizard in the whole world. People are getting sicker because of his dark powers while he's doing everything to open Hellmouth. He's hiding something from me."
"How about you and Pete will team up for an investigation in the woods while we're on the games. You said there are certain areas that reek of dark magic." Bright said.
Pete and Kao groaned in exhaustion.
"Hey, I'm not going to team up with Ghost! He might as well want me dead!" Pete clamored.
Bright heaved a sigh. "Then do what you do best—Kill him."
Then arguments rose in the room.
"What? Are you crazy?" Kao said.
"He's always crazy, and stupid." Pete curved a deadly grin while he turned to Bright.
"—HEY WHO ARE YOU CALLING STUPID?" Bright shouted at Pete.
"Hey who are you calling stupid," said Pete, mimicking Bright's voice, deep and stern. "Maybe that is why you still don't have a girlfriend. You always make a fool out of someone you like! It's disgusting!" Pete dared.
