After wood shop was over, Mike decided he wanted to chat with Max about her romantic interests. Maybe after apologizing about the whole not wanting her in the group thing to clear the air between them.

Mike, Max and Dustin all had a free period after wood shop. Mike searched the hall for Max and found her standing in front of her locker. Mike strolled up to her casually. 

"So. The breakup went pretty well." Mike informed her. He decided against apologizing. Maybe someday, but not today.

"Okay. Is that all?" She questioned, bored.

"No. Eleven told me something else. You can't tell anybody though." Mike warned.

"Okay.." Max looked intrigued.

"Eleven said she likes you. More than a friend. I don't know if she would like that I told you, so don't tell her. Please." Mike whispered. 

Max just stared at him, gawking. "I'll call her." She concluded.

"Max, don't. Please. And besides, that's not all. Do you even like her back?" Mike pointed out. "Think about her potential devastation if she finds out you don't like her." Mike nodded smugly.

"She won't. Because I do like her." She admitted. She started to walk away but Mike stopped her.

Mike shoved away his surprise, he needed to get to the part of the conversation he had actually come for. "Wait- one more thing. Can you keep a secret?"

Max picked took her phone of the wall with a grin. She was about to confess her true feelings to El. Max had dumped Lucas about two weeks ago because he ignored her one day because he was too focused on beating her record on Dig dug. Which he failed at. They're still friends and there was a possibility they would've gotten back together, but Max knew for around a month that she had feelings for Eleven, and that was part of the real reason she broke up with Lucas. But she didn't tell him that. 

Max dialed El's number and waited.

"Hello?" Eleven answered on the second ring.

"Yeah, it's Max. So Mike told me that you like me... more than friends. He told me not to tell anyone, and I wasn't even going to tell you that I knew, but friends don't lie. Heh. And... well, I like you too. That's the real reason I broke up with Lucas." Max said quickly.

The other end of the line was silent for a bit. " Wow. Do you.. wanna come over later?" El asked.

"Tonight I'm actually busy, I'm sorry, but I can come over tomorrow. Tonight I need to go over to Will's to tell him some important drama in person, but don't worry, you're still my best friend." Max responded gently.

"Okay. You're my best friend too. See you at 7:00 tomorrow for a sleepover?" El asked hopefully.

"Of course, I'll be there. Bye El." Max answered.

"Bye Max." Eleven hung up.

"Now, for the other important thing I have to do today." Max reminded herself.

Ding dong.

"I'll get it." Will called out as he opened the front door to reveal the one and only Max Mayfield standing outside in the dim light. 

"So what's this information that's so important it can't be shared over the phone?" Will asks her once they're safe from eavesdropping in Will's room.

Max breathes deeply and a smile spreads across her face. "In the hallway today at free period Mike told me not one but two important pieces of info." 

"Okay." Will replied as Max paused to build suspense.

"Number one is that... Eleven likes me! Which is great because I've liked her for about a month now, but anyway, for the more important one. Number two, Mike told me that he has a crush on....... you." Max told Will dramatically.

Will's heart rate increased tenfold. He was filled with joy and hope, a smile that has been absent from his expressions for so long finally creeping back onto his face.

"Really?" He asked. 

Max nodded.

"I have to talk to him." Will announced giddily.

I think that I should specify here, it was a few years ago now that I wrote this and I have never condoned outing someone without their express consent but I realize that that may not look like the case here with Mike telling Max that El likes her. So, I just want to say, please do not ever out someone unless they explicitly say that you can because that could be really dangerous and/or detrimental !!!!!
