Mike liked Eleven and Hopper's house.

Mike liked Eleven's smile.

Mike liked Eleven's style, her laugh, her words.

Mike liked Eleven.

But that was the problem. Liked.

Ever since Eleven had almost been killed by the mind flayer, Mike's feelings for her had started to wither. He didn't know why. So he tried to ignore it.

But his cheeks didn't heat up when he talked about them kissing, he didn't mentally smile every time he saw her, he didn't admire every little thing about her.

Mike sighed as he got ready for school, contemplating his relationship with El. Her feelings seemed as strong as ever, and she didn't seem to notice his fading away. Mike decided to give it some time.

Will sat down on the bus, in his usual seat with Dustin and Max. In the seat to the left sat Lucas and Mike. Will glanced over at Mike quickly, thinking about all the times his best friend had been there for him. On that day in kindergarten where they first met, when they played D & D with the group, when he was sick, Mike had always been there.

Will smiled at this, his cheeks turning a pale pink.

His eyes widened at this realization.

Will tapped Max on the shoulder. She turned her head from looking out the window.

"Max, I think I have a crush." He cleared his throat, "And I... I think It's Mike." he whispered.

"What do I do? Should I tell him? Should I keep it a secret?" Will worried, pacing around his bedroom.

"I think you should wait and see if there are any signs of him liking you back." Max commented, leaning her back against the wall.

"Max, he's with El." Will sighed, his heart breaking ever so slightly at the thought.

"Well, you didn't hear this from me, but I think their relationship is falling apart a little. Mike doesn't light up whenever he sees her anymore, he doesn't go over to her house that much either. I bet he thinks no one is picking up these little clues, but I analyze relationships a lot." Max concluded smugly.

A glimmer of hope flickered in Will's heart, but he ignored it, getting your hopes up can be devastating. "And what if he doesn't like me back, which is the most likely thing. Isn't he straight?" Will grimaced.

"I don't know. But you can never be sure." Max smiled.
