y/n's pov

"so what's the assignment about?" mattia asks.

"think it's just researching about a historical moment that impacted our world a lot," i tell him. "like the holocaust or martin luther king. anything like that."

"which topic do you wanna do?"

"let's just do martin lurther king," i suggest. "don't worry, we'll be quick so you can go back to fucking that girl."

"i still can't believe you ruined my moment. i was horny all day," mattia pouts.

"believe me, i wish i didn't."

surprisingly, mattia actually helped me with some of the work. i didn't take him for a smart person but he actually knew what he was talking about.

"why are you looking at me like that," he points out.

"no im just surprised that you actually have a brain."

he rolls his eyes. "that's cause you think you know me so well when you haven't even tried to get to know me."

"and it will stay that way," i nod. "i know enough about you. i don't approve of your actions, we wouldn't get along."

mattia slightly frowns. "i tried the settling down thing once. didn't work out well. won't be trying it again."

"what? when?" i say, surprised.

"last year," he answers. "with jenna."

"jenna hablitz huh? she's like the female version of you."

"yeah the only difference was that i actually liked her and i thought she liked me too but i was wrong about that," he mumbles.

i've never seen him like this. he was actually sad about a girl. "what happened?"

"she said she would consider giving me a chance if i didn't talk to any girls for 2 weeks. and that's what i did-- i wouldn't even look at another girl," he tells me. "then she fucked some other guy and told me that her and i were a joke." mattia scoffs. "i actually liked her a lot, but i guess that's what i get."

"you know if you actually tried again you'd find the perfect girl for you," i advise. "i'm not all about that lovey dovey shit but when it's with the right person, you can't get enough of it."

"you are you thinking of a certain someone?" mattia asks.

"yeah.." i murmur. during sophomore year i had a boyfriend dylan but over summer he went to a different state and he still isn't back. i don't do long distance relationship, it was too hard to not see him everyday so we both decided it was best to end things. "it doesn't matter anymore though."

"so i tell you about jenna but you're not gonna tell me about who you're thinking of?" he crosses his arms.

"maybe another time," i smile. "it's getting late so i'm gonna head home."

"oh okay." mattia and i both stand up and push in our chairs. "see you tomorrow fuckhead."

i flip him off and walk out of the library and head to my car.

at home

"hey mom, hey dad," i greet them as i walk into the living room.

"hey honey why are you home so late?" my mom asks.

"i had to do a research project after school," i answer. "forgot to tell you."

"roger and lillian are gonna come for dinner tonight by the way," my dad tells me. "you can feel free to join us."

"oh so now you wanna invite me. okay okay," i tease.

my dad laughs. "you're not old enough to gamble sweetheart."

"whatever," i put my palm up. "i'm gonna go upstairs and shower. i'll join you guys for dinner later."

usually after i shower, i always end up going on my phone for half an hour while sitting naked on my sink. i clicked on snapchat to view everyone's stories and came across dylan's. it was a photo of him and a girl with the caption "happy 1 month." i couldn't help but feel sad-- he was dating another girl for 1 month already.

a/n: someone told me this book is boring and i was like well then... 😳😳 dw i'm not like sad or anything i can take criticism and hate etc but they were so straight forward i swear 😭😭😭 had me rolling
