y/n's pov

"so... you slept with mattia at the party last weekend?" katie asks.

"please don't say anything," i groan. "i'm embarrassed enough."

"we're not judging," nicole quickly says. "we just didn't expect it-- i mean we joked about you guys liking each other but i didn't think that you'd sleep with a guy like him."

"i didn't think i'd sleep with a guy like him either," i agreed. "i was emotionally vulnerable and it happened in the moment. i fell for his tricks and that's on me."

"so, do you have feelings for him?" dylan asks me.

"i don't know, not really?" i answer. i couldn't give him an honest statement because i wasn't sure myself. "things started getting confusing after i slept with him-- it changed everything."

he nods slowly. "i see.. well can i come over tonight? i haven't seen your parents in a while."

"they're not gonna be home tonight but you can still come over," i smile.

bell rings

"alright then i'll see you tonight," dylan stands up and kisses me on the cheek before walking off.

"just so you know," katie says while she grabs her backpack. "i prefer you with mattia."

"like that's ever gonna happen," i said. "mattia doesn't even see me like that."

"well he said it wasn't meaningless sex," nicole brings up.

"and you believe him?" i ask. "he probably told that to every girl he's got with."

katie and nicole frown a little but then both gave me a hug before walking off to class.

mattia's pov

after school

i was trying to find y/n before she left so that we could talk privately but then i ended up bumping into someone as i walk around the corner.

"oh sorry," mr. allen laughs. "in a hurry?"

"yeah my bad," i scratch the back of my head. "this is long overdue but i'm sorry."

the principal tilts his in confusion. "what for?"

"did y/n not tell you? that i was the one who reported you to the school board," i replied, embarrassed.

"oh that was you? no y/n didn't mention who it was," he laughs. "and i'm not mad-- in fact, i'm glad you care so much about her to do something about it. a lot of people would sit back and watch."

"except i made a false accusation that could've gotten you fired," i smile shyly. "i'm sorry again."

"what's your name?"

"mattia," i answer. "mattia polibio."

"mattia gotcha," he nods. "it's all good no hard feelings here, you were just looking out for her. how long have you guys been friends?"

i wipe my face. "uhh... i don't really know if we are friends. we both spent our entire sophomore year hating each other, but this year was different for me. i care about her now."

"a classic hate at first sight but a love you later on," mr. allens chuckles. "have you told her that? that you care about her?"

"i'm trying to-- i messed up with her recently and i don't know how to fix it," i sigh. "if you have any advice i'm literally all ears."

"her parents and i are going out of town tonight, you should go over and explain yourself, maybe even some chocolate might be nice," he shrugs.

"that's a great idea, thank you mr. allens," i almost shout.

then a familiar person walks from the corner and made eye contact with me.

"sup mattia," said dylan.

"sup dylan." i was trying to be polite in front of our principal but this conversation would go differently if we were alone.

"dylan?" mr. allen speaks. "as in the dylan y/n dated?"

"yeah that's me," dylan smiles and shakes his hand. "it's nice to finally meet you mr. allens."

"sure," he replies dryly. "does y/n know you're back from california?"

"yeah she does, we're trying to rebuild our relationship," dylan tells him.

"even after you got with another female right after you broke up with her?" mr. allens crosses his arms. "i'm surprised she's giving you a second chance."

"yeah well memories are a powerful thing," dylan said. "i regret what i did to her but i'm trying make up for mistakes. it was nice meeting you."

we watch dylan exit the school and mr allens whispers something to me. "she could do better." he pats me on the back, making me smile in confidence and walks away.
