y/n's pov
"i won't stop until you're mine," jenna said to mattia. i frown a little at her words.
dylan walks back to our booth and places our food in between us. "chocolate sundae and with a cherry on top. you still like this don't you?"
my frown disappears. "yeah i do. thanks."
"see, you haven't changed that much. we just need to get use to each other again— rebuild the connection. if we both want it to work then it will work," he says. "what do you say?"
"i don't wanna jump into a relationship with you right away," i answer. "maybe we can just be in the talking stage for now?"
i can tell it wasn't what he wanted to hear but he nods. "okay, talking stage it is."
the next day
first period
"hey," mattia greets me as he sits down. "how are you?"
i scoff. "after a week you decided to finally talk to me?"
he looks down. "i just... didn't know what to say after what i did to mr. allens (roger). i thought you were mad at me."
"you could've double checked by asking me."
"i know i'm sorry— it was a dick move," he sighs.
"its okay, i didn't expect you to talk to me anyway," i shrug. "it's just what you do."
"you're always so quick to assume the worst in me."
"was i wrong though? i mean you didn't talk to me," i remind him. "and it was coincidentally after we had sex."
"i told you it wasn't like that. i didn't use you," he fires back.
"so it meant something to you then?" i cross my arms.
"yes it meant something to me," he confirms. "i thought it might've meant something to you too."
it did. but there wasn't one part of me that trusted him. "i don't just sleep with anyone but it's better if we forget that happened."
"what? are you serious?"
"would jenna be happy if she found you slept with me while she was waiting for you in the kitchen?" i ask.
"jenna and i arent dating," mattia said. "is this because dylan's back? did you forget that he got with another girl right after you two broke up?"
"okay class," the teacher shouted. "let's begin."
i turn away from mattia and faced the front board.
"this conversation isn't over," he mumbled.
lunch
before i went to our lunch table, i put all my books in my locker so i didn't have to carry it around.
"hey," i felt a pair of hands grab my waist.
"dylan hey," i smile. "i didn't know you were transferring back today."
"yeah well now you know," he laughs. "where's katie and nicole?"
"at our usual lunch table." i close my locker and dylan puts his arms around my shoulder as we head to the cafeteria.
"they probably hate me huh?" he asks.
"probably— i mean i know i hated you," i tease. when enter the lunch room, we saw alejandro and kairi talking to katie and nicole at their table.
"since when does your group interact with theirs?" dylan questions. "i thought y'all hated each other."
"lots changed since you left," i say. we sit down at my table, waiting for the two girls to finish their conversation and join us.
when katie and nicole turn around and saw us, their faces dropped.
"dylan?" katie speaks. "when did you get back?"
"yeah don't you have a girlfriend in california?" nicole raises her eyebrow. "y/n why is he sitting here?"
"chill guys," i chuckle. "it's fine, i'll explain later."
they hesitantly sit down in front of us.
"y/n," a voice called me from my left. i look and saw mattia walking towards me. "can we talk now?"
"there's nothing to talk about," i say as politely as i can.
"no, there's a lot to talk to about..." he disagrees. "it'll be quick."
dylan narrows his eyes at mattia and then back at me. "is he gonna be a problem for you?" he whispers.
"no," i assure him. i turn back to mattia. "just go back to your table okay?"
"hey dude don't you have a girlfriend of 1 month or something?" mattia says to dylan.
i widen my eyes and give him a shocked look. "mattia!"
"don't you have to go play a bunch of girls?" dylan shoots back. "were you planning to make y/n next?"
"i wouldnt play y/n."
"yeah cause she wouldn't give you the time of day," dylan smiles sarcastically. "she's not for you, move on."
"move on like how you did right after you broke up with her?" mattia tilts his head.
"we already talked it out and we're fine now. stop trying so hard to ruin something that doesn't involved you."
"i didn't have to try so hard last weekend while i was fucking her," said mattia.
he did not just say that. katie and nicole looked at me and even dylan was speechless.
"you slept with him?" nicole asks.
i glare at mattia and he had a sorry look on his face. "i'm sorry.. i didn't mean to-"
"mattia," i interrupt him. "please just go away."
"it wasn't just meaningless sex to me," he blurts out before walking back to his table.
