y/n's pov
home
"you guys going to that party tomorrow night?" i ask my friends.
"yeah probably," katie answered.
"did you tell nicole what you think of alejandro?" i question.
"yeah she did," nicole answered. "i'm not gonna lie i think kairi is a little bit cute too."
i tilt my head. "thought you thought mattia was cute."
"yeah he is but kairi's cuter," she shrugs. "plus mattia seems like he'd be more into you."
"what the fuck, why do you think that?" i ask.
"i don't know just sometimes at lunch he's always staring at you," said katie. "has he shown any interest in you? any hints?"
"not really i just see him at james' diner a lot." then i remembered that he comforted me when i was sad about dylan. "oh yeah, yesterday night he was trying to give me advice."
"about what? dylan?" nicole asks.
"yeah i mean it wasn't the most inspirational advice i've heard but he tried and i give him points for effort," i nod. "i wouldn't necessarily say that he's shown interest in me though."
"okay mattia would never just go sit with you and give you advice," katie points out. "he wanted to help make you feel better."
"i don't know," i mumble. "i just don't see him liking me-- i don't see him liking any girls to be honest."
"yeah that's true," nicole agrees. "don't think kairi or alejandro would settle down this year either."
"nah, kairi and ale would be more likely to than mattia would," i say.
"would you ever like mattia?" katie turns to me.
"mmm," i think for a bit. "i'd give him a chance. but he talks to too many girls. it'd be a hard habit for him to break. don't feel like getting played."
"imma try and talk to alejandro at the party," katie tells us.
"same with kairi," nicole nods. "we'll put aside our differences for the night and try to get along with them. y/n you should talk to mattia."
"i don't know about that one. he'd be busy flirting with a new girl every 5 minutes," i roll my eyes. "let's just go and have a good time okay?"
my two friends nod, agreeing with me.
the next day...
mattia's pov
alejandro kairi and i already arrived at the party but many people beat us here first. i saw a lot of girls turn their heads and look at me sexually but i only had one thing on my mind.
jenna.
every single time i think i'm finally over her for sure, she manages to make her way back into my head. then someone walked in and realized i had another girl on my mind as well. my relationship with y/n this year was way better than last year, and i think it's because we both matured.
sophomore year, i hated her. but ever since i started talking to her this year, she's actually kinda cool. that reminded me i had to talk to her about the new principal.
"hey," someone tapped my shoulder.
i turn to the side and saw jenna. "hey jenna." i look back at y/n and saw kaden talking to her.
"you wanna dance first or grab a drink?" she asks.
"we can dance first," i answer.
jenna takes my hand and leads me to the dance floor. just being touched by her revived all the memories we made last year. she started grinding on me and i place my hands on her waist while taking in the scent of her hair.
"jenna what's your angle here?" i finally say. "why are you talking to me all of a sudden?"
she turns around and looks at me. "i miss you. i made a mistake last year."
i miss you. those 3 words had me rethinking everything. "you broke me," i tell her. "and you're just gonna do it again."
"i know you miss me too," she replies. "i mean why else would you be dancing with me right now?"
"i-- i don't know," i sigh. "just because i miss you doesn't mean it's right."
"give me a chance to prove it to you." she takes my hand. "it's not like there's another girl in the picture right?"
i glance up and saw y/n laughing and dancing with her friends. her laugh and smile are so pure and i knew if it wasn't with jenna, i'd be right there next to her, pretending i hate her when really i actually admire her.
