this chapter is extremely cheesy and corny and very unlike me, but "y/n" needs a little break and a soft, heart warming moment.
y/n's pov
a week later
mattia and i haven't talked ever since the incident, as i expected. i knew i was just another girl to him, another body he can use to pleasure himself. i didn't tell katie or nicole because i was too embarrassed even though they've both been getting closer with kairi and alejandro.
i've noticed that mattia and jenna were talking a lot more now-- i see them everywhere together, including james' diner. did i want to see the guy i developed feelings for with another girl that wasn't me every time i wanted food? no.
i sit down at the booth i go to every single time i get sad, but when i sat down, i remembered that one time mattia told me i wasn't the toughest girl he knew. yeah okay. when i glance to see if they were still there, i made eye contact with mattia but a person walked right in between us blocking the view.
"thought i'd find you here."
i look up to see the boy's face. "dylan?"
"over the summer you told me you wanted go through every food and drink on the menu." he takes a seat in front of me. "what's with the sad face?"
"you're not seriously asking me that," i scoff. "shouldn't you be in california with your girlfriend?"
"but i'm right here," he answers. "with you."
"how did you move on so quick?" i ask, almost tearing up. "how did our 7 months mean nothing to you?"
"but it did, it meant everything to me." dylan takes my hand into his. "being with that girl, made me realize that she's not you and she never will be."
"why date her in the first place?"
"i was convinced that i'd never see you again-- that i wouldn't come back to jersey," he sighs.
"but i could've visited you," i raise my voice. "i would've done anything for you."
"it was a mutual break up remember?" he reminds me. "you agreed with me."
"i only agreed with you cause i didn't want it to turn into something big," i admit. "i didn't wanna argue. i've tried so hard to convince myself that i wanted to break up too, but i didn't. and i didn't think you'd get with another girl right that second either."
"i was trying to get over you-- i didn't wanna spend my entire summer upset," he justifies himself. "i missed you Brown Eyes." he always called me Brown Eyes because one day i told him how i wished i had color eyes, but he told me loved the way my brown eyes were.
"i missed you too.." i whisper. "but, i can't just ignore the fact you got with another girl right after we broke up. you don't understand how you made me feel."
"then let me help make it up to you," he quickly replies. "let me show you how much i still care about you."
"we've both changed over summer," i say. "you changed me-- i'm not the same anymore. you're not the same anymore, i've seen the way you act on your stories."
dylan licks his lips. "but when i look at you, i still see the same girl i fell in love with." at this point i was crying. "i see the same girl who keeps all her receipts organized in her car department. the same girl who drives to the lake just to feed ducks over the winter because she doesn't want them to starve to death. the same girl who'd give the waiter hell for slightly messing up my food order."
i chuckle at his words and formed a smile on my face. "i mean you're paying for that food, the least they can do is make it the way you want it."
"and i see the girl who still has the same beautiful smile," he finishes.
"you always knew the right things to say," i mumble. "there wasn't a moment where you didn't know how to comfort me."
"and i know which snack would make you happy right now," he says confidently. "be right back." with that, dylan walks over to james.
mattia's pov
the second that man walked in, y/n expression completely changed. she started crying at first but then her mouth grew into a smile. after a couple minutes, the boy walks to counter to talk to james, only a few feet away from me.
"hey can i get an ice cream sundae please," he says. "extra chocolate drizzle and no sprinkles, cherry on top."
"y/n does like her chocolate," james chuckles.
"oh i know, that girl can eat an entire box of chocolate within 5 minutes then take up 10 minutes trying to get the excess off her face," the boys laughs. "glad to know that hasn't changed about her."
"old friend?" asks james.
dylan thinks. "guess you say something like that but it won't stay that way for long."
"i like your confidence young man."
"you can thank y/n for that. she admires confidence, so i became confident."
this corny ass motherfucker...
"okay well your sundae will come right up," james smiles.
"thank you." he looks around and makes eye contact with me, then giving me a smile/nod. i wanna slap this good looking fucker in the face. he looked so familiar but i couldn't put my finger on it.
"i think that's dylan turner," jenna whispers to me. "i saw him around with y/n a lot last year."
"dylan you say?" i answer. jenna nods. "thought he moved out of state."
"guess he's back now," she shrugs. "so have you made up your mind yet?"
"about?" i ask, not taking my eyes off dylan. (that doesn't sound right LMFAO)
"if you're ready to give me a chance," said jenna. "it's been a week, what more can i do to prove i'm serious about you?"
sophomore year me wouldn't have even made her wait a week, but sophomore year me didn't have the pleasure of being close with y/n either. things are different now. after i slept with her, the entire situation changed.
"jenna," i slowly speak, "i don't think i should.."
"why? do you not have feelings for me anymore?"
"if i'm being completely honest, there are still some feelings there but not as much as last year," i admit. "i'm sorry."
"well i'm not giving up," she replies. "if you still have some feelings then i still have a chance." she looks at her phone for the time then turns back to me. "i gotta go now but," she grabs her stuff and walks towards the door, "i won't stop until you're mine."
