Song for this chapter: Memories by Thutmose

November, 20th 2018

Larley gave out a cry of happiness as she descended the stairs of her jet. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, smiling with pure joy. It had been five years since she had been in her home country Ghana. She had left her culture, food, family and the love her life behind. It was one of the most painful things she had ever done but it was worth it. After Larley left to work with Warren's Dolls, the biggest modelling agency in the world, her life had been like a fairytale.

After less than five years in the industry, her career had taken off and she had become a supermodel. She had done every fashion week one could possibly think of. Paris, New York, Milan, you name it she had probably slain it. She had walked for all the big names in fashion, Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balmain, Givenchy and any other designer you could think of. She had become the first Ghanaian woman to be named, People Magazine's, Most Beautiful Woman in the World. Larley had it easy when it came to pursuing her dreams because of the privileges she had from being the seventh richest African man's only child. Knowing how difficult others had it, Larley had done her last fashion week and said goodbye to the runway to start her very own agency dedicated to helping Ghanaian children of all backgrounds pursue their dreams. Even though she had done well for herself, with millions to her name but still felt it wasn't enough. She had sponsorship deals with people in her industry and other parties that were on board and willing to make the purpose of her agency a success.

Her return back to Ghana wasn't just to start up her agency. Larley had come back to reunite with telecommunications business mogul, Teddy Daniels. After graduating from Kent University, Teddy had gotten a seed investment of twenty million dollars from his uncle to start up his very own telecommunication company. His company had done extraordinarily well and was worth almost a billion dollars only two years after graduating university. Teddy and Larley had been on numerous private vacations during his time in Kent which stopped after the first two years of being apart because Larley was unable to find time off. Their relationship had been in a weird place but they had gotten the opportunity to meet at events and had hooked up most of the time. They still had an immeasurably strong connection and Larley had promised him when her life was more in her control she would come back to Ghana and be with him.

As Larley sat in the back seat of her dad's Mercedes, she looked out the window and appreciated how calm Accra was as compared to cities like New York and London. The city had transformed and had gotten more modern but the legendary traffic of Ghana's capital had gotten a hundred times more awful. As her eyes continued to follow everything the car drove past, they landed on a huge billboard with the man who had held her heart since she was sixteen years old. He sported a wide gorgeous smile and he looked just as glorious as he was when she met him in Milan a few months back. Her eyes were filled with pride and love as she continued to stare at the billboard thanking God, the traffic still hadn't moved yet. Her heart pounded hard in her chest as she imagined all they were going to do together.

Even though Larley was one of the biggest names in the world; she had a very private profile. Her plans to move back to Ghana and her agency were all kept under wraps. The only people who knew she had returned were her parents and her management team. She knew her parents had already spread the word amongst their close friends and family but she didn't care enough to fight it, all she cared about was being in Teddy's arms once again. As the Mercedes pulled into the gated community where she had spent her childhood, Larley felt nostalgic. The whole neighbourhood was lit with bright lights; her father's standing out most with the brightest light. The mansion was just as mighty as she had left with the enormous fountain, the endless garden, the spread of luxury cars on the grounds, the peacocks and sculptures of family members she still found creepy. She shook her head at how extravagant her parents were and practically skipped into the house like a toddler who just got back from her first day at school.
