[Part 16]

Big Brother!

Celine-Marie? Is that you?

Big Brother, wake up! The baddies are here again!

The baddies? Who are you talking about, Celine-Marie?

The baddies who don’t like our Daddy, Big Brother! They are here! Protect me, I’m scared!

Hide behind me, I’ll protect you no matter what.

You promise?

I promise.

Then if you promise, why did you let me die?

Die?

Why did you let me run outside? Why did you count to ten?

What are you talking about, Celine-Marie?

Don’t pretend you don’t remember, Big Brother! You were hiding in your room, counting to ten! Why did you do that? Why didn’t you come save me?

We were playing hide-and-seek… remember?

We were… But you killed me.

I didn’t-

You killed me. You let me run outside. You let me die.

Celine-

Big Brother, you are a vampire now. You managed to live after you die. Why did you let me die?

Please, I didn’t want it to happen either. I didn’t know what to-

Don’t lie to me, Big Brother! You let me die! And now you’re going to forget me and go with that girl; that girl you just met! I don’t want to talk to you ever again!

Celine-Marie!

I hate you, Big Brother! YOU KILLED ME!

Celine-Marie!

“Celine-Marie!” Jean-Jacques’s yell accompanied him as he jerked upright, sweat soaking through his clothes. His fringe, wet with sweat, pressed down on his forehead into his eyes, but no matter how much he blinked, he could not get past the nightmare. He hadn’t seen a single thing, only heard his precious little sister’s voice accusing him.

Frustrated, Jean-Jacques pushed his fringe back up out of his eyes, looking around him with slowly steadily heartbeats. He wasn’t home… This wasn’t his room.

The occurrence that happened the night before came back in a rush, as Jean-Jacques began to recognize the surrounding that he now found himself in. He had always looked on to the king-sized bed and its silk red sheets with Renee sleeping peacefully in it. Never had he thought he would wake up in the same sheets, alone in Renee’s room.

A jolt of alarm ran through him, and Jean-Jacques had his phone out and pressed to his ear in a single moment before his mind could rush to catch up. The ring tone continued dully for a few rings, then picked up.

“Renee here.”

“You okay?” Jean-Jacques almost didn’t wait for the woman to finish her greeting, barely listening to her voice as he shot off, worry burning through his nerves.

“I’m fine. I’m in the clinic now. Are you okay? You scared me when you collapsed like that. I would have freaked out if not for Lexi and Dante.” Renee’s reply was her usual cheeriness, as Jean-Jacques breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Thank god the woman was fine.
