[Part 8]
Jean-Jacques appeared back on American soil, ready for combat, and quickly became obvious to him that the Russians had clearly thought that the fight was over –given how they froze at his sudden appearance. The moment would have been comical for any third-person, but it didn’t work at all with Jean-Jacques in the moment as he saw his buddy on the floor in the cold winter night.
To say that Dante was in a bad shape was an understatement, but Jean-Jacques took to notice that he had neither gone ashen nor turned entirely into a pile of vampire dust. Dante was still alive, but Jean-Jacques had no idea how close the man himself was to death’s door.
“One…”
The rage poured forth, duty and responsibility crashing down on his shoulders as he charged forwards towards the vampires standing around Dante’s prone, unconscious figure.
The rage unleashed a savage vampire beast from within Jean-Jacques as he gripped his katana tightly. It had always been a strange thing for his friends to witness whenever Jean-Jacques practiced sword fighting with a Japanese-style weapon, but they had no complaints whenever they witnessed his mastery over the style of Iaido.
There was nothing except the spirit of a cool, merciless vampire out for revenge within Jean-Jacques as he hit the sheathe of his katana into the kidney of one of the closest vampire. Before a reaction could be made, he had already unsheathed his sword, a swinging arc down in a slice meant to decapitate.
This is war. Jean-Jacques repeated to himself as the first vampire crumbled into dust. The silence of Jean-Jacque’s grim procedure was punctuated by heavy grunts and Russian curses as the vampires began rounding on him together. If they had taken Dante –one of his best fighters –unconscious, it meant that they had garlic somewhere and it was obvious that they wouldn’t be afraid of unleashing it on him either.
The vampire at his side disappeared, and Jean-Jacques rolled on the ground to his left moments just before the vampire reappeared again behind him –the punch missing its target. Without a moment of hesitation, Jean-Jacques stabbed his katana backwards, and felt the tell-tale crumble of dust.
“Two…”
He disappeared from his position, and reappeared behind the group of vampires that had been trying to advance on him together. He easily counted another 3 of them, but he’d heard too many heartbeats in the clinic for only Renee and Lexi. There were undoubtedly humans there too, and Jean-Jacques was willing to bet that they were the same men that he had seen back in Russia.
It appeared that the vampires were as old-fashioned as he, for they seemed to refuse using guns as they relentlessly tried to throw punches and kicks at him. One of them had a rusty dagger in his hand, but Jean-Jacques knew that that weapon wasn’t their game-changer. A syringe of garlic hidden somewhere amongst the three remaining vampires could turn the tide over in Jean-Jacques’s apparently winning side.
“Three…”
Jean-Jacques heard cursing in Russian from the clinic and spared a single moment of attention to look over, finding the humans rushed out onto the entrance. They must have been taken by the surprise of his presence too, for they seemed to have left their guns in the clinic. Jean-Jacques’s vampire foes smirked at each other, seemingly to know that the end was near for both him and Dante. He could deal with vampires, but vampires and humans together were the ultimate hit-duo.
But not for Jean-Jacques.
“Four…”
Jean-Jacques teleported away from another well-targeted kick made towards his face, reappearing right in front of the entrance of the clinic. Humane instincts made the mafia man closest to him whirl around in a heavy punch, but Jean-Jacques was a vampire with faster speed and strength. Catching the flying fist within his palms, he twisted the man’s arm and brought the man close to him. Jean-Jacques was obviously smaller-sized as compared to the muscled man, but it made no difference to him when he slammed the butt of his katana into the temple of the human.
