[Part 2]
“Your name,” Jean-Jacques repeated evenly, not bothering to look up from the profile that he had in his hand. “What is your name?”
“Um… Jane Scott.” The woman’s reply was uncharacteristically nervous, and Jean-Jacques frowned down at his page, not trying to show any signs of displeasure that could potentially trip the woman up even more.
“Do you know why you are here?” He asked seriously, scanning quickly through the profile. This was the fifth interview in a row, and the heaviness and seriousness of the job was starting to get to him.
“A-An interview to see if I can be promoted?” She stuttered a little –not a good making of a bodyguard. No bodyguard should be uncertain about her place. A guard with wavering feelings would not be able to commit to her ward well, would not be able to focus when something cropped up.
Keeping the demerit points he’d chalked up silently within his mind, he continued.
“Yes. How confident are you about being posted to protecting people of the utmost importance, Ms. Scott?”
The reply took a little hesitation to come. “Um… not really. I-I haven’t been in the industry long enough…”
Jean-Jacques frowned a little harder. Why had this woman made it past so many tests and trials, and come to him in the interview, to be revealed as incompetent for the job that she was almost assigned to? Surely his associates had scanned her far better? Out of almost a few hundred new employees, they had only needed to pick out approximately 30 of them.
Jean-Jacques skipped the tiny details of Ms. Scott’s life, and jumped right down to the comments section, where he would undoubtedly find the comments of his 4 associates as to their reasons why they chose her out of so many new employees. He let the atmosphere soak in silence as he read the comments made.
“Sky: She shows the aptitude to accept the presence of supernatural. Brought up in a military environment (father as a militant), she will accept orders.”
It was a good call made from Sky, but it still didn’t explain why Ms. Scott was stumbling and stuttering before him.
“Sab: Good foundation of martial arts and weapon usage. Flexible mind. Will be able to decide the best course in a bad situation.”
It was another good call made from Sabrina, and Jean-Jacques was beginning to get a little suspicious if the woman who had taken a seat in front of him was the same woman described in her profile. He hadn’t looked up to make sure that the woman was the same one on the file, but trusted enough that the wrong one wouldn’t be sent to the small room.
“Lexi: Loyal to a fault. Took the blame and punishment for something she didn’t do just to protect her ‘ward’. She has the passion and willingness to sacrifice for someone she cares for. Needs a little more training, but will make a good addition to the team.”
All comments so far had been praising Ms. Jane Scott sky-high, and yet Jean-Jacques still could not figure out why the woman seemed to timid before him. Perhaps his last associate could give an insight on the reason she was chosen.
“Alvron: Just look at that rack and that booty! The Russians will totally be crazy for that piece of hot mama jamma. She’s going to be our perfect slutty distraction. She just needs to update her wardrobe by a little, get more transparent tank tops, and we’re ready to go.”
Jean-Jacques closed his eyes. He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting from Alvron –wasn’t sure why he even expected something else from the true-blue Casanova that had now taken over his buddy’s place in his life. Dante had once been that Casanova in his life, but ever since meeting Lexi, many things had changed.
