Jack's pov

I didn't know how the hell I could tell Danny without seeming...weird?
I mean, I fell for a ghost for crying out loud! Wouldn't he find that a little strange?
Fuck it, is all I thought.

"Well," I began, still staring at the ceiling to avoid eye contact. "To make things short, all I did was fall in love. I don't know how or why I did so fast, but I just did."
I could see that Danny nodded from the corner of my eye, a signal for me to continue.
I cleared my throat.
"I told him one day, and he felt the same...at least I thought he felt the same..."

My eyes really despised me that day. The tears just kept repeating and repeating until I'd run out!

"You mean he...l-lied to you?" Danny stuttered.

"Yeah, he did."
I looked at my son, a sad facial expression showing from his face. "Well, tell me more!" He said. "How did you find out he lied? What did you guys talk about before then?"

See the awkward thing about this is the fact that...

"Well," I said. "Me and Lloyd...got close."
"Aww," Danny said. "Did you guys hold hands?"

This is impossible, I thought to myself.
"N-No...we didn't."
Danny showed a disappointed face.
"Well, why no-"

"Lloyd and I...we uh...you know the story of the birds and the bees?"

"OH MY GOD!" Danny screamed. "You-!!"
"Shhhh!!" I shushed him, giggling a bit, a quiet giggle coming from him too. "You had...s-e-x?" He whispered, spelling the last word out.

"Yes, we had intercourse, Danny."

"Why?" A smug smile on his face.

"Well," I said. "I loved him, and I felt passionate about him."

"And...where...did you...um..."

I laughed at what he was implying. "In the bathroom, you weirdo. One time we actually-"
"Okay that's enough please stop!" Danny laughed, covering his face.
"Hey," I said. "We talked sweet to each other too. It's not all about that nasty stuff."

"That's surprising coming from you," Danny said.

Huh, I guess Lloyd really did bring out the soft in me.

There was laughter and joy between us until...
"Wait...why?" Danny said. "Why did he be all lovey-dovey with you and all that stuff if he didn't really love you back?"

I laughed, pain hidden inside of it.
"He used it as a weapon against me, I suppose."

And from the look on Danny's face, that's when everything made sense.
"You tried to kill us...because he threatened you that if you didn't...he wouldn't be with you...anymore?"
I looked down, embarrassed by the way it sounds.
And the way it just...is.

"Do you see him there...?" Danny said. "At The Overlook?"

I sighed. "Yeah, but I'm nothing to him now."
