Danny's pov
It was almost like a dream
All of it.
From after Mr. Jackson's first period to the blood curdling screams coming from me.
It kind of reminded me of a horror movie. Or a sad Coming Of Age story.
I was walking home, blood splattered all over my shirt, face, and leg. Bruises left in what felt like a million places.
It hurt so bad.
It hurt to the point where I achieved the gut to turn around and walk to the hospital.
I got weird looks from everybody on the street on the way there, which I wouldn't blame people for, and I most certainly wouldn't blame them for feeling a bit freaked out as well.
All of this felt like a very horrific dream.
Mr. Jackson is dead...and the fact that nobody will know why is terrifying! Maybe they'll call it suicide, but he was BEAT to death.
By much, stronger fists.
I mean they have cameras, but what will they see? Nothing! Jack...he's a ghost for crying out loud!
It'll look very...paranormal, though. I doubt that they would believe that.
Wait...
They have cameras!
I stopped walking, hesitating.
Did the school...know?
Did they know about...the incident after first period?
No, they wouldn't allow that!
Maybe they don't check the cameras? That would be ridiculous!
So much was happening at once.
Do I go to the hospital or do I go back to school and confess everything?
Did my father see what happened in the forest? Is he going to hurt them?
Living...
Living has been a lot of work lately.
I continued walking to the hospital, trying to just throw the entire Mr. Jackson situation to the bottom of my worry list.
Right now, I needed to get to the hospital.
When I arrived, everyone in the lobby looked at me with scared eyes as I walked to the front desk.
"I...I-" I stuttered. I didn't think it would be this hard to just...speak?
My mouth hurt a lot, well, everything hurt, but they punched me so hard it knocked a couple teeth out. So it was quite painful to talk.
"Go get him a doctor," the blond haired woman in front of me said. "Just wait one second hun, okay?"
"O-Okay."
I closed my eyes tightly, clenching my teeth and whimpering a bit from the sudden pain on my right side.
They broke my ribs, I thought to myself. Those bastards.
"What's your name, son?" A voice spoke, zoning me back in.
He was a doctor. Well, he dressed like one, so I'm assuming he is one.
"Danny," I mumbled.
"Could you please speak up for me?"
"D-Danny," I said a bit louder, but not shouting. "Danny Torrance."
He wrote my name down on a piece of paper attached to a clipboard.
"Right this way Danny," he said when he finished, motioning his right arm to a hallway.
We walked to the room in a bit of a rush. I'm assuming it was because I was...oh I don't know bleeding to death.
I thought they would take me to the emergency, but I guess not? Did it not look like an emergency?
He told me to lay down on the hospital bed, which I did.
He examined everything, put bandages on me, sewed up my cut, got me changed into new clothes, etc.
"So, Danny," he said, pulling his rolling chair next to the bed. "It seems whatever happened caused two broken ribs, a slightly broken leg, two knocked out teeth, a fairly deep cut, and a black eye."
My facial expression was puzzled. "Slightly broken leg?"
He chuckled a bit. "Yes, Danny, but a better way to put it is just severely injured. If they would've hit it one more time...then it would be a loss cause."
I jumped a bit at one of his words.
If they would've hit it-
"W-What?" I said, sitting up. "They?"
I obviously knew who they was.
The Doctor stared at me with genuine sympathy. "Danny," he said, caressing my shoulder, causing me to jump a bit. "I know that...something happened with other people involved. It would only make sense."
I sighed. "Y-Yeah."
"Does your mom know you're here?"
Shit, I thought.
