"Curator Valentina!"

The shriek of director Chen could be heard from the other end of the gallery. Valentina puffed out a breath and ran as fast as her heels could allow her. Her boss was not the most easygoing woman, and not the most soft-spoken either.

"Si?" She questioned while entering the director's office. Fang Chen, her Boss, was the head of the gallery Valentina worked at.

Mancini Museum.

After her grandfather passed away - Valentina did not have the heart to work at their gallery without him. There was a certain emptiness in her life after he left her. She had no more family of her own. For a change of heart, she moved to Milan and landed the position of Head Curator at one of the most known galleries in the city.

Milan was the territory of Valerius. She had ultimately been exposed to the media after a public appearance with him; everyone knew her in the city. Life with him was different. It had been three years, yet she was not used to it. He treated her well. So well. Like a Queen. But, there was always a lingering uncertainty about life. Especially in the Mafia.

"Earth to Valentina!"

Her head snapped upwards, she smiled sheepishly - realizing that she had drifted off. "Sorry," Valentina muttered to her boss. Miss Chen had her eyebrows raised at her, she tapped her long nails against the desk and gestured for her worker to take a seat.

Valentina smoothed her skirt while crossing her legs as she sat on one of the chairs placed in front of the desk. "What can I do for you?" She asked, plastering on a smile.

"Richard Daniel."

It only took his name for Valentina's eyes to widen. Richard Daniel. He was one of the most famous artists in the world - even his first collection had gained recognition rapidly. His paintings were in demand by every art gallery. If her Boss was thinking of signing him for the new exhibition, then it would be extremely hard,

For Valentina. Because she was the one doing most of the work.

All the time.

"What about him?" Valentina asked, hoping what she thought was just an assumption. But her boss had other plans, "I think we should get his new collection for the upcoming exhibition."

Easy for you to say, you don't have to go through the hassle of getting them on board, Valentina thought.

She remembered how she had to fly to three different countries just after one artist because her Boss demanded her to do so. She did not mind working - not at all, but she hated how all the duties were placed on her despite having other staff.

"Have you talked to him?" Valentina questioned in a keen voice. Miss Chen only shook her head, "No. Because you will do so."

She knew it.

"It will be extremely difficu — " She was cut off by the older woman, "But you'll come through. As always."

Her lips were in a thin line as she stared at her Boss. "It is time for a new director.." Miss Chen started and this piqued Valentina's interest.

"Go on."

"I will be moving on, and Mrs. Mancini is going to appoint a new director. Soon. If you can pull this off, I might be able to put in a word on your behalf."

"Why should I believe you?" Valentina questioned. Mrs. Mancini wasn't short of candidates for the museum, more qualified candidates. Valentina had no reason to believe that the woman would even consider her.
