Five days later.
Paris, France.

-

Valentina pulled away the curtains, allowing rays of sunshine to enter their room. She opened the balcony door and went outside, leaning against the railing as she took in the beautiful city. This was one of her dream destinations, and she was going to make the most of it.

She felt Valerius wrap his arms around her waist from behind. He placed his chin on her shoulder as Valentina leaned back in his hold, "Thank you," She murmured.

"For what, love?"

"For bringing me here."

He placed a kiss against her hair, "You never have to thank me, baby. We both deserved a break."

They had left after the doctor allowed Valerius - his wound had healed and he was in much better shape. He had planned a detailed vacation for them, and Valentina was delighted by it, but she was happier with the fact that she was going to spend time with Valerius.

Just the two of them.

"What should we do on our first day here?" Valentina tilted her head to the side to look at him.

"Whatever you want."

Valentina squealed in excitement and clasped her hands together, "Get ready then. We leave in an hour!" She left his hold and ran towards the room, leaving Valerius to chuckle and shake his head at her.

Exactly an hour later, Valerius stood in the main sitting area. He glanced at his watch and then fixed his collar, looking up when Valentina entered the room. Valerius sucked in a deep breath when he saw her, even in simple jeans and a shirt, she looked like a goddess. The woman took his breath away every single time.

"Beautiful," He said, gazing at her intensely.

Valentina blushed and thanked him, taking her time to stare at him. Valerius was in a suit most of the time, but he carried casual clothing effortlessly as well, "You look very handsome, mi amore."

Valerius grinned at her, "Grazie, mio cuore." He placed his hand out, "Come on."

Valentina intertwined their hands as they strolled out of the suite and towards the elevator where they were greeted by a man, "Don," He bowed at Valerius, "Signora," And then at Valentina.

"Cain," Valerius acknowledged him, "Stay at a safe distance, and if there is any unusual activity then inform me."

"Si, Don."

Valentina smiled and then moved forward after thanking him.

Valerius pressed the button in the elevator. Walking out when the doors opened after a few seconds. Once they were out in the street, Valerius turned towards Valentina, "Are we walking or should I get the car?" He asked her.

"Did you rent a car?"

"I did not rent, sweetheart," Valerius placed his aviators on, "It is ours."

Valentina arched his brow at her, "Well, don't tell me that you have a place here too?"

"We do, all around the world," He answered, "But I figured you would enjoy a hotel more."

Valentina put her hand on her heart, "You know me so well."

"Of course I do, Valentina." He then started walking on the sideway, "Now tell me, what you have planned for the day."

Valentina dragged him behind her, "Oh, I cannot wait to tell you!"

Both of them roamed around the city - admiring the Eiffel Tower and then the Seine with a riverboat cruise. Valentina and Valerius took a stroll in the heart of Paris. They walked around with her head placed on his shoulder and her hands wrapped around him. Valerius occasionally stopped at the cafés by the streets to get them desserts.

"I will get fat," Valentina said while devouring a croissant.

Valerius grabbed a tissue and wiped the chocolate at the corner of her mouth, "You won't." He said, placing a kiss on her cheek, "And I have a surprise for you."

"Tell me!" Valentina asked, staring at him with wide eyes.

Valerius rounded the corner to their hotel, "I am taking you somewhere special for dinner. Get dressed, love."

_

"You can see the whole city from here!" Valentina gushed in surprise as she stared at the lights. The rooftop of the restaurant hosted a beautiful view. There was a table in the middle, surrounded by an orchestra and candles illuminated the setting, creating a romantic atmosphere.

"Are you behind this?" Valentina eyed Valerius.

"Of course," He said, pulling the chair out for her, "A beautiful lady like you deserves the best treatment." Valerius kissed the top of her head and rounded the table to sit on his seat.

He opened the bottle of champagne and poured it into their glasses, passing one to Valentina who thanked him in reply.

"I have news," She said, fiddling with her fingers.

"I am listening, sweetheart."

"Well, I met Mrs. Mancini at my office and long story short," She trailed off as Valerius focused on her, "I have been offered the Director position."

Valerius smiled at her, opening his hands, "Sweetheart, that is wonderful!"

"I know!" Valentina nodded in excitement, "I have full control over the exhibitions, market, and public dealing," She grinned widely, "I can even display my art."

Valerius kept on staring at her as she rambled. She looked beautiful when she talked about her passion. The way her eyes widened, her lips parted, her hands made gestures - it all seemed fascinating to him.

"Congratulations, my darling," Valerius said, raising his glass and clicking it with hers, "To you!"

"To me!" Valentina cheered.

Valerius finished the drink and placed his glass aside, putting his hand out, "Does the lady care for a dance?"

Valentina gracefully accepted his hand, "With you, always."

Valerius led them to the center. The soft music faded in the background as they held each other. Valentina had her arms around his neck, while he embraced her waist. They moved slowly, simply basking in each other's presence.

Valentina stared into his eyes. The beautiful grey was a soft silver tonight, reflecting the moon, "You are beautiful," She said, not wavering her eyes from his. Valerius chuckled and lowered his head, "And so are you, mio cuore."

"You are my most precious blessing," She whispered, Valentina felt him suck in a sharp breath, "I am?" He asked, feeling surprised. She tilted her head and pressed her lips against his, "You were," A kiss, "You are," Another kiss, "And you always will be,"

Valerius tightened his hold on her, "I love you, Valentina, more than life itself."

"I will always love you, Valerius," She murmured, placing her head on his chest, and listening to his steady heartbeat.

"Even with all my shortcomings?"

Valentina pulled away slightly and eyed him, "What do you mean?"

He pulled her closer again, "I can never offer you a normal life. Do you want to look behind your shoulder while making every move? Just being my girlfriend made you a target, imagine what being my wife would entail."

Valentina rubbed her finger against his arm, "Your wife," She smiled widely, "It has a nice ring to it."

"Did you only focus on that part?"

"Yes," She said, her eyes turned defensive, "I knew what I was signing for, Valerius, and I will not back out now after three years. We will deal with every obstacle together. As long as I have you, I fear nothing."

"I will never leave you," Valerius promised, bringing his lips near her forehead.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

-

Oh I love these two.
