"SPENCER, WE HAVE TO GO TO
work."

I whined in protest, aggressively shaking my head and kissing Lilac even deeper. She groaned, grabbing a handful of my hair and yanking me away from her pretty lips. "You act like we're never gonna kiss ever again." She deadpanned.

"You act like we're never gonna kiss ever again," I mocked sassily, making my voice high-pitched. Lilac laughed loudly, shoving me in the face hard enough to nearly make me fall over. "Stop it." I grumbled, reaching down to button up her shirt.

"I don't wanna gooo." I complained, leaning in to kiss her again. I stared down at her face—she looked so good underneath me. "I wanna cuddle you all day long." I sighed softly, lowering myself on flush on top of her and burying my face in her neck.

"You're crushing me." Lilac whined, giggling when I began kissing her neck. "If you don't stop I might not let us leave this room." She sang out, running her hands through my hair. My head popped up from her neck and I grinned at her devilishly.

"We don't have to." I told her, wiggling my eyebrows.

"You say one thing, then say another, and then do another—" Lilac rolled her eyes. "You're so confusing. Get off."

"One more." I muttered, kissing her another time hard. I broke it and got up onto my knees, peering down at her with a soft smile.

Lilac groaned, rubbing her face that slowly flushed. "Don't do that."

"Do what?"

"Smile at me like that."

"Why?"

"Because you're so handsome that it hurts." Lilac complained.

"You're so pretty that it hurts." I cooed back, pinching her cheek. Lilac gagged and rolled her eyes.

"We're already becoming that couple, aren't we?"

"Yup."

On the way to the hospital, I noticed that Lilac got all quiet again. She cried her eyes out last night, but I knew grief didn't go away that easily. It came in waves at times—one moment you'd be fine, and the next it would hit you like a truck. I knew Lilac would refuse to talk about it if I asked, so all I could really do is hold onto her hand in the car. As we entered the hospital though, I let go because I knew the team couldn't know about us.

"Do you think you wanna talk to Laurie today?" I asked Lilac softly as we met up with the team in our waiting room.

Lilac sighed heavily, making my heart twist with guilt. Maybe I shouldn't have asked her to—obviously the woman was exhausted, but at the same time this case would go so much quicker if Laurie opened up to us.
