Chapter 25 No Days Off

You have to be at your strongest when you're feeling at your weakest

Alysha looked at Travis, "Ok so Me and Emmett have been together for 6 years" Alysha started. As she spoke Travis looked behind him around the corner and saw Chief Dixon and Emmett talking to each other.

"And 6 years is a long time, longer than some of my friend's marriages, and I really want to be married" Alysha revealed. Travis was starting to feel bad for Alysha even more, "But he hasn't proposed, and I don't know if I should just do it, but is that weird? I mean it's modern right? or am I being desperate?" Alysha explained and asked Travis.

"Alysha, you're young and you're in no absolute rush" Travis replied, "I know, that's what my mom saids all the time...but I just love him so much and I want to be there to take care of him when he's old" Alysha explained. Travis smiled hearing what Alysha said, "That's a wonderful way to feel about someone, but I'm saying this as your new gay bestie" Travis explained.

Alysha smiled hearing that, "Firefighters don't always grow old, it's a dangerous job" Travis mentioned. "Yeah, but they don't make the new guy do all the dangerous work, right?" Alysha replied asking a question. "Alysha, he won't always be new, he'll have to do the hard stuff too" Travis added. Travis paused as he looked serious, "We lose a lot of people to this job, people we love, People like my husband" Travis stated.

"Look Alysha, all I'm saying is if you want to marry Emmett, you are signing up for a lifetime of heartbreak, okay, I promise you" Travis explained. Alysha listened intently, "Will you look out for him? So I don't lose him" Alysha asked looking at Travis.  "Yeah, yeah I'll look out for him" Travis replied nodding his head. Alysha went to Travis and hugged him thanking him. Travis rubbed his hand on her back for support but also feeling bad at the same time.

Alysha and Travis let go and she smiled as they walked back over to the table, "Alysha, Montogomery, come sit Emmett's making some Coffee" Chief Dixon called. Emmett looked back and saw Travis giving him a look as he sat down. "He's mad isn't he?" Emmett asked himself as he was waiting for the coffee.

Travis P.O.V

I just want to get out of here, this is getting more awkward by the second, Alysha not knowing is hurting me inside. And I still don't understand why Chief Dixon would put his son in the fire academy with the talent and skill he has with art. I wish I could be Maya right now on Vacation, or anyone else from Station 19 because they are all off today. But I'm stuck in the Station with Emmett, his girlfriend, and father.

Emmett walked over pouring everyone a cup of Coffee, after, he sat down beside Alysha and put his arm around her and Alysha leaned in and kissed Emmett on the cheek. Travis smiled awkwardly, "Well thank you for lunch but I should really be going" Travis stated. Emmett looked at Travis and then Chief Dixon's phone started to ring again.

"Yup Dixon" Chief Dixon spoke into his phone as everyone looked at him, "Alright I'm on my way" Chief Dixon replied hanging up and getting up from his seat grabbing his jacket. "Fire at the recycling Plant's up to three alarms, and the Chief has to make an appearance" Chief Dixon explained walking over to Alysha. "Good to see you Alysha" Chief Dixon said hugging Alysha as she hugged back.

"Well thee alarms, shouldn't we be responding to it?" Emmett asked his father, Chief Dixon looked at them. "You worry about it when it gets to five" Chief Dixon ordered leaving the room to get to the fire. Travis looked at Emmett then Travis went on his phone to text someone, "Three alarms at recycling plant, Chief headed there. don't get cozy" Travis message read. Travis sent the message to Vic. But little did he know she was fast asleep at Dean's houseboat where both Jack and Dean were also sleeping.
