"Faster."
"C'mon, I am not feeling it."
"You can do better."
"C'mon, harder Dave. Hit harder."
"Yeah, like that."
The four of us walked in wearing our tracks and shirt with the organization's symbol printed on the left breast. Daniel leads us to a huge hall which looked like a very advance gym. Treadmills aligned the ceiling to floor glass window to the left of the room. Right opposite to it, weight benches along with cardio cycles were assembled. To the back, punching bags were hung to practice. There were human dummies placed in the furthest corner on which various people were practising and perfecting their kicks. Gym balls, weights, wrestling mats and whatnot were all over the place. The place stenched of sweat and cheap air freshener, the air heavy with humid and hard work that we are going to do.
"Natasha!" Daniel called out to the women in her late thirties. She was wearing a black tank which was drenched with sweat. Her chestnut brown hair tied in a bun at the back of her head. She turned towards us and smiled a charming smile towards Daniel as if the woman who was screaming at the heavily built guys didn't exist.
"Okay boys, take five." She called out to the guys who were looking like they'd faint right at this moment.
She walked towards us, her sparkling blue eyes met mine, she didn't leave my stare as she walked towards us, her head slightly tilted to one side.
Something felt odd about her. Like I have met her before like I have seen those pair of eyes before.
A chill went through my spine as her eyes continued to bore into mine.
"Hey, Daniel." She greeted.
"Natasha." Daniel acknowledged.
"Hey," Brian greeted her.
She nodded back at him and flashed a quick smile towards him. "How are you doing, my boy?" She asked.
"Fine," He replied back.
"Okay Natasha, this is Noah and Micheal, more boys for you to train," Daniel said. " And that is Blair."
She turned towards me again, her lips slowly turned up in a small smile, her eyes held some emotion I couldn't fathom. " I know," She said.
My eyebrows scrunched together. Does she know me? Have we met before?
"I- I mean, I know all of you, Daniel introduced me that I am getting some fresh meat." She said and laughed, which sounded more like a peal of forced laughter.
"Glad to meet you too ma'am." Micheal winked at her.
She just chuckled in reply. Noah just looked at everything placidly. His face held no emotion. It was funny how Natasha looked at him for 5 mins to introduce himself but he was more interested in the petunias outside the window which looked into the garden.
I nudged at him, and when he responded I nodded my head towards her, hinting him to greet her. All he did was look at her and shrug, then he went back staring outside the window.
"Okay, Blair Cooper. Am I right?" She said referring to me.
"That's right ma'am," I replied with a nod.
"Okay, listen up, she would be your trainer for the coming days. She would help you improve your strength and learn self-defence. She would also show you various techniques and help you to improve your attention as well as concentration. Good luck. Train well." Daniel said and with that, he nodded his head towards Natasha and walked away.
