I stood there staring at the closed door, my body numb refusing to react. The figure of Maria looming before my eyes, her pale face and her body covered in cast and bandages. Hundred thoughts buzzing in my head trying to make sense of what I saw. My heart refuses to believe but I was sure that it was her. I ran to the nurse I bumped into earlier to find out about her.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" I asked while tapping on her shoulder. She turned around a little, not facing me fully.
"Yeah?" She replied, her tone a little annoyed. Like she was in a hurry. Her forehead glistened with sweat, her posture too tense.
But my head was filled with thoughts of Maria that I looked over this.
"Umm, can I know the name of the patient in the room that you just got out from?" I requested. My heart thumping loudly in my chest.
"I don't know," And with that, she walked away.
Leaving me with confusion, not knowing what to do I got back in my room, placing the drink on the table I took out my phone. I dialled Brian's number through the safe line. My other hands' fingers curled in a fist while I paced around the room waiting for Brian to pick up his phone.
"Hey? You okay?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, I am fine, I--" I returned.
"Oh, you worried me for a moment there," He said.
"Listen. Can you come to the hospital immediately?" I said. My voice stern.
"What's happening?" He said, his tone changing.
"Get here first. Bring Micheal and Noah too. And Daniel too." I said and hung up.
Throwing my phone on the bed, I grabbed some jeans and a sweater, went into the bathroom and changed, being careful with my healing wounds. Packing all the things in my duffel bag, I swallowed two tablets of painkiller and kept the rest in my bag. Leaving the bag on the bed, I ran back to the room in which I saw Maria was in.
Taking a deep breath, I slowly opened the door. But to my surprise, no one was there. Taking out the pocket knife I walked in. I checked the bathroom, there was no one. My heart started beating louder, quickly I started to walk out when I noticed the trash in the corner. There were pieces of paper shredded and thrown in the bin. Something intrigued me and I picked up every strip of paper and walked out.
Rushing out of the room I got back in mine, stuffed the papers in my bag, grabbed everything and hurried towards the reception of the hospital. While hurrying towards the reception I bumped into someone, hurting my wounds. Pain soared through my abdomen, blurring my vision, my bag landed with a thump. I groaned in pain and tried to look at the guys, but they did not even bother to acknowledge me.
"Rude," I muttered and picked up my stuff.
Quickly getting up, I clutched my stomach and picked up my bag. Walking carefully to the reception.
"Hey!" Brian called out.
He came towards and took my bag from my hand.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, I am fine," I replied. " Daniel, we gotta talk," I said seeing him walking towards me with Micheal and Noah.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"The fifth," I said referring to Maria, but avoiding using her name. "She here, saw her down the hallway, in one of the rooms."
Everyone got tense when they understood what I said. Without saying a word they started walking towards the room when I stopped them.
