It's now going on a week since I've seen my friend Shawn and I started working on music together. We've been friends since we were children and always had a dream about making it big one day.

However for now we were both songwriting majors at a university in Nashville, which is perfect for two people wanting to make it in the music industry one day.

Shawn and I just got out of our class for today and as usual we were going to the studio at our university to work on a few songs with our friends who were also in our major.

This was our normal Friday routine have class, go to the studio for a few hours, then head to downtown Nashville to listen to a few local artists.

We had already been at the four hours and it was starting get dark out. We packed up our stuff and agreed to meet each other in two hours at our favorite local bar to listen to some artists.

I changed my clothing into something a little more comfortable but I still wanted to look nice just in case we see someone important tonight. After getting dressed I meet up with one of our other friend, Kat, who was going to be joining us because I didn't want to walk in by myself.

We saw Shawn along with our friend Xavier. We sat there cheering on all the artists listening to everyone do an amazing job. The host for the came back on stage ready to announce the next artists as everyone started to get quiet again.

"Let's give them one more hand. They did absolutely an amazing job. So we are actually doing something we've never done before. We just had an artist have cancel last minute. Do we have anyone here today who is a singer and would like perform a song of their own tonight?" He said as I could feel my body not knowing what to do.

I look over at Shawn who was already looking at me.

"Y/N, this is our moment. We have to do this." He said overjoyed

"Shawn, I don't know. There's so many people here tonight. I don't know if I can do it." I said feeling my nerves get the best of me

"Please y/n, I know you can. I can't do this without. Just breathe I'll be right beside you the whole time. Anytime you get nervous just look at me." He told me not breaking eye contact with me

"Okay" I said taking a deep breath

"Sir, we have a original song to sing." Shawn yelled getting the host attention

"Perfect, come on up." He said as we made our way up to the front as everyone cheered us on

"What's your names?" The host asked

"I'm Shawn and this is Y/N" Shawn said

"Great, what will y'all be singing for us tonight?" The host looked at both of us

"We will be singing a song wrote called Like to be you." I said trying not to sound nervous

"Alright everyone, give it up for Shawn and y/n singing Like to be you." He said before walking off the stage

The whole time we sat facing each other and I kept my eyes on Shawn. I pretend that we were in the studio and no one else was around. And well it worked. All my nerves of before went away. Before I knew we had finished.

The crowd was cheering with a few people standing up. I looked back at Shawn who gave a hug and a huge smile.

"What a beautiful song. Ladies and gentlemen one more round for Shawn and y/n. Y'all did an great job." He said aloud as we smiled looking out on to the crowd

We made our way back to our sites and I was still a little shaken by what just happened and over joyed that it did.

My eyes met Shawn's as we both smiled at each other.

"I knew you could do it." He said in my ear as I began to blush at little at his words.
