We stand outside of 12 Grimmauld Place, waiting as it appears. We enter once we could, turning the lights on. Smoke begins to swirl in the middle of the hallway, taking a form, before coming towards us. Hermione lets out a scream and it disappears as it reaches us.
"What was that about?" Ron questions shocked.
"Mad-eye's doing, I'd guess. In case Snape decided to come snooping." Hermione tells him. A creak noise causes us all to tense up. Hermione steps forward a bit, "Homenum revelio." she says with a raise of her wand. But nothing happens. "We're alone." she tells us, lowering her wand.
--------------------
We decided to all stay together and sleep in the living room. It was the next morning, I was reading a random book I had found on the shelf, while Hermione and Ron sat at the piano attempting to learn a tune, while Harry just sat looking at the Golden Snitch Dumbledore had left for him in his will.
I look up from my readings when loud banging's came from the kitchen. We all get up and make our way to the kitchen. Harry and Hermione rush ahead of Ron and I. I look into room next to Ron to see Mundungus, Kreacher, and another house elf in the kitchen across from Harry and Hermione.
The other house elf, Dobby, as it talked about himself in the third person was explaining something about Kreacher to Harry as he walked on top of the table. Ron and I look at one another and just stay by the door watching the one sided conversation continue.
"I'm no thief, you foul little... git.." Mundungus defense but stops when Harry looks over at him. "I'm a purveyer of rare and wondrous objects.." he tries to explain to redeem himself, which wasn't working.
"You're a thief, Dung. Everyone knows it." Ron says, walking into the room, I follow behind.
"Master Weasley! So good to see you again!" Dobby greets, then looks to me, "Miss Potter! Good to finally meet you." Dobby says to me, holding his hand out to me.
I shake his hand and give him a smile, "Good to meet you too, Dobby." I greet in return.
Mundungus continues to back away from all of us. "Listen, I panicked that night, all right? I never volunteered to die for you, mate. Can I help it if Mad-Eye fell off his broom." he tries to explain himself.
"Tell the truth." Hermione demands as we corner him, making him fall into a chair.
"When you turned this place over -- don't deny it! -- you found a locket, am I right?" Harry questions the man.
"Why? Was it valuable?" Mundungus asks greedily.
"You've still got it." Hermione questions.
"No. He's worried he should have got more money for it." Ron corrects.
"Bleedin' gave it away, din' I? There I was, pitching me wares in Diagon Alley when some ministry hag comes up and asks to see my license. Says she's of a mind to lock me up and would've, too, she hadn' taken a fancy to that locket." he explains to us rather nervously.
"Who was she? This witch?" I ask him, hoping he'd know who he sold the locket to.
"No.. No.." he begins to tell us, but stops when he looks down at the newspapers that had fallen to the ground. "Well, she's right there, in't she?" he says grabbing the paper, standing and placing it on the table for all of us to see. "Bleedin' bow an' all." he says pointing to Umbridge who was on the front page.
---------------------------
This plan can so backfire. Currently Hermione and I were finishing up polyjuice potion while the boys were getting us the people we need to change into. We needed people from the ministry, seeing as we are wanted 'fugitives'.
The boys return with the last ministry man. All of them were unconscious and leaning against wall in the place we were hiding in. "Right. So let's do it. Who gets who?" Ron questions, as I hand everyone a cup with the potion in it.
"Well, unless one of you boys fancies wearing a skirt or dress." I say sarcastically as Hermione plucks a hair from one of the women. I reach and pluck a hair from the other woman, dropping it in the cup.
"Remember what we said. Keep your eyes down. Don't speak to anyone unless absolutely necessary. Act as normal as possible. Just do what you see everyone else doing. We do that -- and with a bit of luck -- we get ourselves inside. And then..." Hermione reminds us, fading off in the end.
"It gets really tricky." Harry fills in.
"Correct." Hermione agrees.
We all just look and the unconscious ministry officials. God I hope this doesn't backfire. "This is completely mental." Harry says.
I nod in agreement, "Insanely mental." I add on.
"Completely, utterly, without question." Hermione joins in.
"The world's mental. Come on, drink up. We've got a Horcrux to find." Ron tells us. We all agree and drink the potion. We change into their clothing's and walk out of the hiding place and into the open streets now as the ministry officials.
We make our way down the street, "In case you're interested, I'm Reg Cattermole, Magical Maintenance Department." Ron tells us as he looks at a card that was him his coat pocket.
We all do the same, looking for some sort of Identification as to who we were. "Mafalda Hopkirk, assistant in the Improper Use of Magic Office." Hermione reads from her card.
"Madam Marie Edgecombe, Floo Network regulator. Edgecombe? Her daughter was in my house." I say with a sigh.
"I'm no one." Harry says, not finding a card.
"You're somebody. Be careful." Hermione tells him as we continue, crossing a street, towards one of the entrances for the ministry, where the boys split from Hermione and I.
