Chapter 2

[Nara Shikamaru P.O.V.]

I groan deeply as I lay my hands on the back of my head. "Mendokusai parents always making me look for my stupid sister" I say. "What's up with your sister lately. She seems more angry" Choji says as he walks next to me. I look at the clouds. "Just some unfair stuff. If I were her I would probably be pissed too" I sigh as I take my hands off my head. "I just don't get why she has to act out now. If you want to prove a point, just do it without making my mother angry with me too" I say. "Thank you for helping me look by the way" Choji smiles at me. I knew I could count on you. "Isn't that Kiba over there?" I follow Choji's gaze. "I guess" I say. "If you ask him to help, we'd probably find her much faster. Akamaru could probably smell her right?" Choji says. "Choji, that's a great idea! Kiba! Hey Kiba!" Kiba turns around. "Oh hey" he says. After some convincing he finally agrees to help searching. But as Choji expected, we find her much faster by the help of Akamaru's nose. Shizuka is at the training field, standing on top of a large log. She's wearing just a hotpants and a netted tank top. Usually she's also wearing a small vest with the Nara symbol on it, like the one I'm wearing, with her headband on the sleeve but it's laying on the log next to her. I hear a slight gasp as the wind blows through her short black hair. Surprised I look at Kiba who's staring at Shizuka, blushing. Choji and I look at each other before looking at Kiba again. "Mendokusai" I sigh. "Shizuka" I shout. She looks our way. "I've been sent to get you home. Come on" I say.

"Toosan" father looks up. "If it would make Shizuka happier, couldn't she just be the next head of Nara instead of me?" I ask. He sighs. "If it were that simple, don't you think I would've done that, stupid?" He asks. I sigh deeply. "I just...it's like the third time I found her crying this week" I say. "Crying?" Father looks at me surprised. "Yeah like sad and frustrated and stuff. And when I wanted to talk to her she just threw the door in my face" I say. Father sighs. "She used to talk to me about stuff like this, but that's long gone" I sigh deeply. "Mendokusai" father leans his hand in his thigh. "Your sister isn't mendokusai, she's just frustrated and motivated. Let us talk to her" he says before he moves his piece on the shogi board. "But thank you for telling me" I sigh deeply when he beats me again. I scratch my head as Shizuka walks in. "Let your sister play" he says and sighing I move from my spot so Shizuka can sit on mine. "How's your training going?" Father asks after a while. "Fine" Shizuka answers. "Finding your place in your team?" He asks. She nods as she moves her pieces. "Genma guiding you well?" She nods again. "Shikamaru" father says. "Yeah yeah" I sigh, standing up and leaving the room. But I wait just outside the door. I look at the ceiling closing my eyes for a second. Shizuka is my twin sister, she used to be my best friend and I'd like us to be that way again one day. Please Toosan, don't say the wrong thing. You'll ruin everything.

"Genma tells me you want to be in the ANBU black ops" father says. "Yeah" Shizuka says. Black ops? "You never told me you had such a goal" Father says. "I had to adjust my goal" Shizuka says. "Shizuka" father says. "Even though some things can't be helped, that doesn't mean I don't want to see you thrive and do well. If this is really what you want of course I'm going to help you achieve that, just as I'm going to help Shikamaru achieve his" Father says. "Shikamaru has no goal" Shizuka says and I can't help but smile since that's the truth. "Maybe he just hasn't found his" Father says. "Just be honest and say you'll help him become the next head of the Nara clan Toosan" Shizuka says. "Well yeah, of course there's that but one day he'll have a goal too" I sigh as I can't stand it no more and walk into the room again, sitting next to both my father and sister. With my hands on my hips I look at their pieces. If this continues she might win too. "You sure you want to be in ANBU, you know what they do right?" I ask. "You think I can't do it?" Shizuka looks directly at me. "You might, but that's not it" I say. "There's different devisions in ANBU. I want to be tactical captain, reporting to Hokage-sama" Shizuka says. "You don't have to be ANBU to do that. Reaching the level of jounin is enough. Study hard to become a special jounin and Hokage-sama can appoint you to be his tactical advisor" Father says. Shizuka scoffs as she crosses her arms. "So you think I can't do it?" She asks. "No one says that Shizuka" father says. "Mendokusai, Don't be laying words into others peoples mouths" I say, making her look annoyed at me, this time I look annoyed back.
