Chapter 4
“You both seen it didn’t you?” The woman said.
“...Seen what? Oh, did we see the dude almost fall off? Yeah of course?” I try to play it off.
“You know thats not what I was talking about. You guys also seen death and been introduced to it’s game haven’t you?” The girl says as if its the most common conversation in the world. She finishes putting the medic on the bed comfortably.
“How did you know?”
“You guys have been dead for 2 days.”
I look at her and assume that she’s crazy because of the fact it felt like it had been only a hour at most. I take out my cell phone and it was an hour. But the woman takes out her phone and shows the actual date and time.
“Why did it take so long for you guys to get us to the hospital?”
“The flames were too big. and the smoke wouldn’t recede from that one spot no matter how much we sprayed it.You being alive isn't even considered a miracle in my book. Other than you 2's bodies we found another kid and a dog that looks like a bigger version of the puppy.
The pup tensed up and started wagging his tail out of suspicion. I know her next words will choose his reaction.
"There alive," she says. The puppy interrupts and practically lifts his front paws up as if to say gooooaaaal. "Woke up and left 6 hours ago." She finished as she glances at this unique football loving puppy. The pup freezes out of pure unadulterated shock.
I pick the dog off my shoulders and envelop him like a baby.
"Do you know which direction they went?"
"Nope... They caused a bunch of trouble when they ran outta here. They are one of us too aren't they."
"You're the one who figured out who I was so why are you asking me like I know. If its because they survived in the smoke too then yeah I guess so. But I know one thing for sure. You need to come with us."
