Gerard had never been more frightened in his entire life. His rapid heartbeat was accompanied by his racing thoughts and sweaty palms.

Frank still had his firm grip and decided look. That left the younger phased.

Gerard was happy. Scared to death but happy. Frank was an exception in his vivid summer. He startled and dazed him, exploited his vulnerability whilst being a companion he never had.

So the latter took a step closer, timidly wrapping his arms around the broad shoulders, and braced himself in a hug.

"I wanna take you somewhere. Show you what I'm like, how we can be like. Away from unwanted eyes and judging words. Just you and me."

Gerard nodded. The familiar sting in his eyes was too much and he inhaled the sweet surrender sharply.

He let himself be taken deeper into the darkness and out of it to the beach. He was sat down onto the warm sand as a peaceful sound of ocean sang.

There he was safe, in the embrace. There he felt affection, overflowed by desire. There he was Gerard Way.

"How do you feel?" The faint whisper tickled his ear.

"Quite at ease, you?"

Iero chuckled and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. It turned red immediately.

Gee twisted around the words he heard before. Those that were said too often. He wanted to know the truth of them.

"Frank?"

He turned to face messy strands of hair.

"I think..."

A finger lifted his chin and a warm hand brushed away the black hair. Their eyes met at last.

"What is this?"

"The way I see it, it doesn't matter. I think I think I'm sure it's right. It must be. I'm done running away from things I can't escape. I want to be happy."

Gerard smiled genuinely. He was so happy.

Finally, the morning woke Frank up. Gerard lay in his arms. They were cuddled in the sand. At first, he was confused, but then it dawned on him. The music, angelic voice, the kiss, the offer, the words...happiness.

His stomach churned, partially because he was hungry, but more for the sound-asleep angel. At this moment he could cry. For the beauty and luck that was offered to his heart.

"Sleepyhead," he kissed the forehead, "wakey wakey," and the eyelids. "I'm hungry," his lips grazed over Way's parted, "I miss you."

With one last press, Frank realized Gerard's a heavy sleeper. He pounced onto the sleeping body and started tickling the skinny frame.

The success was inevitable. Gerard was squirming, kicking and laughing. When they stopped he thought out loud, "I really hoped to be awoken by some sweet gesture not..."

He suddenly remembered last night and turned crimson red. This time he didn't tear his gaze away but kept it.

Frank smiled knowingly and grabbed his hand to help him get up.

Gerard strolled back to his trailer when someone swept him off the ground and in the next moment, he was carried in the opposite direction.

"Frank, what are yo-

You son of a bitch let me go! Put me down! No, no, no I don't wanna!"

Frank laughed as he started running towards the ocean. In a second their legs were wet and in the next, Gerard's whole body was soaked as Frank decided to listen to his pleas and put him down.
