C H A P T E R 7
Zai's birthday

Everyone's busy preparing for the birthday surprise. Abala ang iba sa pagsasabit ng birthday banner habang ang iba ay nagaayos ng lamesa at mga ilaw. I'm wearing a lavender satin body hugging dress~perfect for the party's theme. Pink and purple.

We are all wearing purple but in different shades dahil iyon ang gusto ni Waki. Everyone should wear either pink or purple since those are Zai's favorites.

Nang matapos ay umupo muna kami sa isang table na para sa aming magkakaibigan. Unti-unti naring dumating ang mga naimbitahan para birthday. Kuya Ysaac's band is there too!

Abala sila sa pag-aayos ng amplifier at mic check.

The place is now crowded with people. Handa narin ang lahat. Pumwesto na kami gaya ng sabi ni Waki dahil parating na raw si Zai.

"She's coming!" Waki shouted with a smiled on his face.

Madilim dahil patay ang ilaw at tanging ang nagbibigay liwanag lang sa lugar ay ang candles at lights na nakalatag sa floor. Joaquin is holding the cake habang kami naman ay may hawak na party popper.

"Surprise!!!! Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!"

Zyrah put her hands on her chest. She was shocked for a moment. She let out a wide smile while listening to us–singing a birthday song for her.

Nang matapos ay niyakap niya kami isa't isa. She became teary-eyed.

"Mga impakta kayo! Kinilig naman ako sa part na 'yon!"

We all laughed.

Ang lahat ay umupo na. Tumugtog narin sina kuya Ysaac. Pagkatapos ay nagsi-kainan na'rin. I can see Zyrah's smile from here. She's enjoying her birthday party and I'm happy for her. I smiled. Seeing my friends happy makes me feel over the moon too.

I was eating when someone caught my eye. She's wearing a pink tube dress. Her loose curls swayed as she passed by. It's Sydney.

Sinalubong niya ng yakap si Thaddeus. The man, on the other hand, remained stoic. Iniwas ko ang tingin ko sa dalawa at nagpatuloy na lamang sa pagkain. I distracted myself by listening to my friends chikas and jokes while we're eating.

Abala rin ang iba sa pagkain. Nagsagawa rin ng games si Joaquin. My friends and I decided to join too and I actually had fun! Medyo nawala sa isipan ko ang nakita kanina...

Maya maya pa ay napagod ako sa kalalaro kaya naisipan kong magpahangin muna sa labas. I stood outside and hugged myself. Medyo mahangin sa labas and I'm only wearing sleeveless dress.

"Yeah, I'll fetch you,"

"Drive safely." T'was from a soft voice.

I heard small talks far beside me. I tilted my head to see whose voice is it and I was shocked when I saw Syd. Hindi niya naramdaman ang presensya ko. I looked at the man in front of him.

My mouth went to an 'O' shape. It's Lorshaw!

My eyes followed their every move. Binuksan na ni Lorsh ang pintuan patungo sa driver's seat at nagsimula na magdrive papalayo. Akmang aalis na si Syd nang matigilan siya dahil nakita niya akong nakatingin sakanya. She got shocked too.

Biglang naginit ang dugo ko sakanya.

She smiled at me sweetly while looking at me with her 'innocent' eyes.

"Kanina ka pa? Why don't you go inside and enjoy the party?" She asked nicely before smiling again.

"Why don't YOU go inside? Your boyfriend's there." Nanliliit ang mga mata ko.

She chuckled. She walked closer to me and stopped just a few inches away. Mas matangkad siya sa akin kaya mas lalong naging evident ang age gap namin. She's already a grown woman for her age habang ako... i dont know.

"He's still eating,"

"Oh? Kaya kinita mo muna ang lalaki mo?"

I caught her off guard. I raised my eyebrow.

"You're cheating on him." Dagdag ko.

It's not a question. I saw her gulped.

"You don't know anything."

I scoffed and laughed mockingly.

"Yeah, you're older than me. Hindi dapat ako nagmamarunong," Nagkibit balikat ako bago siya tinalikuran.

I clenched my fist while I was walking away. Dumiretso ako sa wine area at kumuha ng inumin doon. I'm not allowed to drink alcohols but I feel like I need it just for tonight.

Kailangan kong makalimutan ang nakita kanina dahil baka hindi ko mapigilan ang sarili ko at isumbong siya kay Thaddeus.

Sunod sunod kong ininom iyon at naramdaman na ang kaunting pagkakahilo. Kinuha ko uli ang shot glass at akmang iinom uli nang inagaw iyon palayo sa akin ng lalaki.

"Hey!" Pagalit kong sagot.

"That's enough." His cold voice sent shivers. Ginulo ko ang buhok ko bago sya hinarap. He's now talking to the bartender about the drinks—He looked at me afterwards.

"Bakit ba nangingielam ka?" I asked.

"You've been drinking too much—"

"So?" I cut him off. His lips turned into a grim line. He's looking straight into my eyes. Inirapan ko siya at umiwas ng tingin. Wala yatang minuto na hindi nya guguluhin ang isipan ko.

"Sandra?" Akmang may sasabihin pa sana si Thaddeus nang may boses na nagsalita mula sa likod ko. I turned around just to see Hans' face.

I smiled cutely and waved my hand. "Oh! Hi!"

He smiled back, "I was looking for you..." I felt a hand making its way from my waist to my stomach. Napatingin ako roon. Even Hans noticed the possessive stance too. He looked at the man beside me.
