Kia

The gunshot rang in the air louder.

Immediately, Vivian pushed me to the ground and leaned over me, protecting me with his body. He pulled out his gun and fired in the direction where the shots were coming from.

I felt panic in my chest when my mind went to Harley. “Harley is alone in the house.”

All his focus was on that point where the gunshots were coming from. “Nobody knows about my daughter. Whoever is here is looking for me.”

Who the hell was he?!

He quickly stood up and pulled me to my feet. “I’m going to take you both out of here.”

I looked at him, shocked. “And what about you? Won’t you come with us?”

Wasn’t this the chance I had been waiting for? I should be happy whoever had come here. He killed him. Then why the hell was I reacting in this way?

“I won’t leave you alone!” I said stubbornly. “Give me your knife. I know how to use it.”

A slight smile played on his lips. He pulled out his sharp knife and handed me over. “You will stay behind me.”

I nodded at him.

Again, shots rang out from somewhere.

“I think they are over two,” I said while trailing after him.

“It’s a gang as far as I can guess.” There was not an ounce of fear in his voice. “It is not two or three. It is over ten people, I think.”

“We must take Harley out of here first,” I said while looking around. We were about to reach the house but suddenly, someone attacked us. Not us on him. But Vivian was much faster than him. He dodged out of his way and grabbed him by the neck, and cracked him up in a single move.

Wow!

Another man showed up with a pistol, but after seeing his partner’s condition, he looked like he had to shift his pants. Vivian didn’t wait and beat him up. I smiled at victory, even though it was Vivian’s. His skill impressed me. He was the right man for the boss.

With him, I didn’t need to worry about my life because he was much more powerful than the rest of the criminals. He took them down one by one until a man blocked him and the next moment, he jabbed his knife into Vivian’s arm deeply.

And I froze.

Lucian!!

My eyes grew wide. That was the last thing I was expecting. I watched them, horrified. I didn’t take the time to understand the entire scene. Guarin. He came here for me. It was too soon. I was not ready yet!

Vivian hit Lucian’s jaw, and he struggled to his feet, stepping back. Before Lucian could recover from his hit, Vivian punched his nose so hard that it seemed like he had broken his nose’s bone. Lucian clutched his nose while narrowing his eyes at Vivian. I felt a double panic when Vivian pulled out his gun and pressed it against his head. Lucian was too weak in front of Vivian, and he didn’t take the time to kill him.

“No!” I blurted out, trembling. My stomach clenched due to fear.

Vivian didn’t notice my reaction and pulled the trigger, but immediately, I jerked his hand away.

“What the fuck was that?” Vivian asked, confusion across his face.

I swallowed hard and said nothing.

Lucian looked at me, wondering.

Vivian grabbed my hand and pulled me to his side. “What did I tell you? Just stay behind me.”
