Ruel and I's families had always been really close, but that doesn't mean that me and Ruel got along.
Our families decided that we would go on holiday (vacation) together this summer and I wasn't pleased to say the least.
I had no problem with any of the Van Dijk family besides Ruel, I was extremely close with Coco and Sylvie as I only had a brother and they were like the older sisters I never had.
My parents always ask me why I dislike Ruel so much and my answer is always 'because' but the real reason was that ever since I had first met him, I had the biggest crush on him. Even though I had a crush on him, it didn't disguise the fact that he was always rude and cocky around me.
'y/n you can't stay in your room the whole holiday!' My mum groaned through the closed door.
'Watch me.' I replied.
'Don't stay in here all holiday, I know that you don't really like Ruel but I don't want you to have a bad time.' She pleaded.
I stayed in my room until it was time for dinner. I made my way down to the kitchen in the villa that we were staying in to see Coco and Sylvie cooking something.
'Hey.' I smiled.
'Are you ok?' Coco asked.
'You haven't been out of your room since we got here.' Sylvie added.
'Um yeah I'm fine it's just- nothing.' I said, trying to brush the question off.
I began to help them cook when Ruel walked into the kitchen. He walked up behind me and kicked my ankle.
'What's up, dipshit?' He said when I turned around.
'Please leave me alone.' I said, already tired of his antics.
'Sorry, are you on your period or something?' He asked sarcastically.
'Ruel shut up!' Coco warned, making Ruel back off.
The next day me, Coco and Sylvie were in the pool that was in our villa.
'Let's do a handstand competition!' Coco smiled.
'Yes, I used to do those all of the time!' I squealed.
'y/n show us how it's done!' Sylvie laughed.
I moved into a space so that I could do a handstand but I didn't see Ruel enter the pool behind me.
I stood up after doing the handstand and tried to catch my breath when Ruel came up behind me and pushed me under the water again.
'What are you doing Ruel? You're going to hurt her!' Coco screamed.
'Fine.' He groaned and let go of me.
I came back up to the surface of the water and took a deep breath.
'What is your problem with me?' I asked.
'You're an annoying bitch.' Ruel said, rolling his eyes.
I didn't reply, I just walked back to my room.
'Why are you going back to your room?' My mum asked, seeing me about to enter it.
'Ask Ruel!' I shouted.
My mum turned to Ruel's mum and made a questioning face. Ruel's mum shrugged.
I sat on my bed and cried.
'What have I ever done to him?' I muttered.
I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep before I heard a soft knock on the door.
'Who is it?' I asked.
'Me.' Ruel said.
'Leave me alone.' I said sternly.
He opened the door anyway and I threw a pillow at him.
'What was that for?' He laughed.
'Oh I don't know. Maybe because you tried to drown me, you just walked into my room without permission and you're just always horrible to me!' I shouted.
'Look I'm sorry.' Ruel said.
'I don't want to hear it!' I groaned.
'Why? Do you not want me to apologise to you and then just ignore you?' He asked.
'No.' I replied, bluntly.
'Then what do you want?' He questioned, frustrated.
'I want you.' I admitted.
'What do you mean?' He asked.
'I've had a crush on you since forever and you've been nothing but horrible to me since forever but I still haven't been able to get over you!' I screamed.
'Listen Ruel, just forget I said any of that.' I said walking out of my room.
'y/n wait!' He shouted.
'What?' I whined.
'I've always had a crush on you too but I didn't know how to tell you or how to deal with it so I was just horrible to you in a desperate attempt to stop my feelings but they just grew.' He admitted.
I looked down and smiled and Ruel lifted my chin up.
'I'm so sorry y/n, I'm such a dick.' He pleaded.
'Oh just shut up and kiss me Van Dijk.' I giggled before pressing my lips against his.
'I'm just saying I'm not ready to call you my boyfriend.' I smirked.
'Summer fling?' He asked.
'Summer fling.' I agreed.
'For now.' He smiled.
'Don't worry 'summer fling' is only temporary.' I giggled leaning in for another kiss.
