A couple of days had passed and within those days that they were together, it is undeniable to say that Jeongguk's feelings starts to betray him.
He tried shrugging it off, when Taehyung smiles- he tried shrugging off this silly pitter patter in his heart. And when he laughs, it's as if it's almost impossible to keep himself from smiling, to keep himself from admiring it. He doesn't even realize he's already staring at Taehyung, as if he's looking at his world.
Now he isn't really sure if it's still the mate pull that is causing all this.
"Jeonggukie look!!" Taehyung spoke, excited as he point at the peak that is now miles away from them. "We're almost there!"
Jeongguk looked at it and felt his heart tightens. He pulled a smile towards the omega, who looked at him with so much happiness. "Yeah, we're getting there, tae."
"In my calculations, we'll get there in less than six hours, with minimum time of resting. We'll be just right in time," Jimin spoke, smiling. "Are you both sure about this?"
And that question strucked Jeongguk. Is he really sure of letting Taehyung go?
"Minnie, we talked about this," Taehyung said. Jimin sighed. "Yeah, I know but-"
"Ofcourse, I'm sure." Jeongguk replied before walking off. They both looked at him weirdly, before Taehyung followed Jeongguk. The alpha felt him following but did not speak, just continued walking. The omega pouted.
"Ggukie? Are you okay?" Taehyung spoke softly. Jeongguk hummed in response. "Sorry about Minnie, if he keeps asking that. But don't worry! He won't ever ask that again. I mean, we're already here, right? No backing off-"
"It's not that."
Taehyung pursed his lips. "Then what is it?" He asked and saw Jeongguk looked away. Taehyung held his arm and looked at him, concern all over his face. "Hey, ggukie what is it?"
"It's nothing, Tae." He spoke and softly smiled. Taehyung was about to say something when Jeongguk walked ahead and called Daniel for something, which caught Taehyung off guard.
Eversince the day has begun, Jeongguk had been somehow distant from him. And he could not stop himself from being sad about it. They were getting along pretty well for the past three days and the sudden shift of emotions of the alpha had him confused.
He huffed loudly and started to walk faster. He then stepped into a moving rock that caused him to slip. He felt a pain shooting in his right foot from that awkward angle.
"Tae!" Jimin panicked, rushing towards his bestfriend. Jeongguk immediately swift his head, worry written all over his face.
"I'm- I'm okay-"
"No, you're not! Look! You almost got sprained," Jimin spoke, huffing at his bestfriend's carelessness. Taehyung bit his lip as he looked at his foot. He felt Jeongguk crouching down.
"Does it hurt?" He asked, gaze intimidating from how serious he looked. Taehyung gulped. "No.."
Jeongguk nodded slowly, still examining Taehyung's foot. The awkwardness went away as soon as Jimin came back, with some leaves and herbal oil.
Taehyung frowned a little. Not because of his foot but because of none other than Jeongguk. Something was really off today.
"That looks painful," Daniel commented. "Can you walk, Tae? If you can't I can carry you-"
"No." Jeongguk grumbled and walked over to get Taehyung, who's feet is now patched up. The alpha crouched down and pat his back. "I'll carry you."
Taehyung awkwardly laughed. "Ah- no need! Daniel will-"
"Taehyung." Jeongguk warned and he doesn't need to be told twice as he found himself wrapping his arms around Jeongguk's neck, now being carried by the alpha on his back.
Daniel pouted as they walked away. "He's so salty and scary, Is he on alpha period or something.."
Yoongi just gave him a weird look.

"It's..it's.."
"Beautiful." Jeongguk spoke and looked at Taehyung who got his mouth open, eyes sparkling in admiration at the view right before their eyes.
They reached the Blood Moon peak at last.
Earlier that day, they were just wondering of what might they expect when they're up there and now here they are, standing right at the very peak.
The sun was setting beautifully, slowly disappearing from the clouds that seemed to be at their feets from how high they were. It was indeed a golden moment as the color of the sun starts to fade.
"In about two hours, the moon will be on it's brightest. It would be the perfect time to break the soul bond." Jimin said, looking at Jeongguk and Taehyung who seems to be lost in the beauty of the view.
Jeongguk heard Jimin and again felt his heart clenching. Moreover, his wolf howls in despair. He stared at Taehyung, who's too enthralled in the view before his eyes.
Deep inside his heart, he knew breaking the bond is not the only way. But they have come so far for this. For this moment. And he had no right to regret anything. Specially when he's the one who wanted it.
But god, it hurts.
"What would you do when we come back?" Taehyung asked softly, gaze never leaving the view.
"Probably sleep for a day." Jeongguk responded and a chuckle left his lips. Taehyung giggled at that too. "I don't know, Tae. I don't know."
"Me too.." Taehyung spoke, finally looking at Jeongguk who had been staring at him. He flashed him a smile. "You'd be okay."
"Yeah, ofcourse.." Jeongguk mumbled. Ofcourse he'd be okay. Why won't he? He breathe sharply. "Two hours left, huh?"
Taehyung softly nodded.
"Let's enjoy it. While it lasts." Jeongguk spoke mindlessly. He knew he would regret that. But if he'll have to let go of Taehyung, he doesn't want to let go of him regretting he did not, for once, followed his heart.
And so he let his heart decide.
He pulled Taehyung close and wrapped his arms on his waist as Taehyung softly laid his head on his shoulders. The alpha back hugged him, while they both watched how the stars appear in the sky.
Taehyung closed his eyes and felt Jeongguk pecking the side of his head. He bit his lips and held back a sob. He really was inlove with his mate. Too bad, he does not feel the same way about him.
Because the moment Jeongguk realized he had deeply fallen for Taehyung, it's too late.
"Jeongguk?" Taehyung softly whispered, eyes looking up at the moon that is shining so brightly above. Jeongguk hummed.
"It's time."
