Chapter 6: The Reason

After a few hours, 9:00 A.M finally came and everyone came down to the dining room. Everyone hugged one another in relief seeing that the gas hadn't affected them anymore. The woman from the box finally came in and sat down at the end of the table and broke the silence. "Well, I hope you all are hungry. The food should be out shortly. That should give us time to talk..." she smiled. "Then why don't we start with what I asked you earlier. Why did you kidnap us?" Lucia asked. The woman sighed.

"It will be difficult for you to understand..." "Try us..." Alyssa said.

 "Well, let me start with our organization. We are a group that studies the effects of nuclear materials on human and non-human DNA. Our program started during the cold war when nuclear threats were everywhere. But afterward, the need for them vanished, so we took nuclear materials from Russia and the U.S and started to experiment with them. First, we found a strange biomolecule that has never seen before. It could change and enhance DNA in unbelievable factors. However, the Russians knew this as well and were already testing it on humans. Adults, such as myself, aren't able to survive the gas and die. The gas destroyed the adult heart instantly. However, as we found out that it doesn't harm the hearts of young teens such as you. We never intended that we would ever have to kidnap any children, but recently the Russians have forced our hand. They have found a way to mutate the nuclear gas and allow it to work on adults. However they turn into horrible beasts that will kill anything. The reason why we have you is because they have found a secret organization to sell their nuclear mixtures to. This organization consists of mad scientist, cult worshipers, old nazi's, and even some mafia members. You name it. The worst of society has hold of the currents monsters and the supplies to make new ones of all kinds. You seven will need to travel to Russia, find where the secret organization is, and destroy every trace of it." she finished. "So you need us to become these mutated spies?!" Morgen asked. "We don't want to send in children to do an adults job... But that's what it's come down to." "How do you expect us to do that? We don't even know how to control this thing I am... I mean the things we are..." Paul muttered. "Soon you will. We will help all of you stabilize your enhanced ability so that you can gain better control." "And if we can't?" Whitney asked. "Then we will send you as you are. I hate to be like this with you all but this is what has to be done. After breakfast you will go to the training area to begin your stabilization. It may take years for you to gain control of your condition, but let me assure you we are prepared to wait as long as it takes." Everyone was silent as the woman stood up. "You should be proud! You are a group of strong and well-minded young adults. Now you will serve a greater purpose." The woman left the friends alone. "Well..." Whitney stated. No one spoke. Kathryn opened her mouth, but didn't say anything. "Where's the food? I'm hungry..." Paul said.
