"Selene's up there in that hotel. I can smell her scent in there." Paul growled. They had followed the scent of the monster all the way into the city. The scent stopped at an abandoned hotel. "Let me go in," Jason said. "No," Paul and Rachel said in unison. "She's my sister," he said. "You're my boyfriend," Rachel argued. "I know and I don't want to leave you, but this is my fault," he whispered. "Let me help," Rachel pleaded. "No, I will not put you in harm's way!" Jason protested. "If it'll help get Selene back, let her help," Paul said. "Don't be so-" "What? Selfish? Don't put my girlfriend's life in danger just to find your own? Oh wait...THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID!" he yelled. "Fine! You want to go in there without a plan and get yourself killed? Go ahead!" Jason yelled back. Paul growled into the hotel lobby. It was dark and damp inside. The bodies of tourists lay on the floor drained of blood. There in the corner was a boy about two years old trying to crawl away. Paul went over to the child and helped it up. The child's eyes were dilated and all you could see were his pupils. The child also had fangs, which Paul could see as it started screaming. The scream was high pitched and Paul covered his ears. Suddenly dozens of vampires with wings came from the ceiling and hissed. They tackled him and pinned him down to the floor. Paul tried to fight back and get out of their grasp. "We've got him," one vampire hissed. "Bring him to me," a familiar voice ordered. The creatures dragged Paul's enormous body to their leader.

"Selene?" Paul asked shocked. Selene stood before him and was smiling. Paul looked closely and saw that her eyes were no longer a deep blue, but instead a black, much like

Paul looked closely and saw that her eyes were no longer a deep blue, but instead a black, much like the child's. "What have they done to you?" he asked in horror. "Do not speak!" she yelled kicking his face. Paul cried out in pain. "What should we do with the mutt?" one vampire asked. "Don't kill him yet; wait until the reactor is brought to the city. We can make him like us," Selene said. "Why not kill him now?" one whined. Selene went over and grabbed the vampire's neck. "Were you questioning my authority?" she asked sweetly. Before he could answer, Selene ripped his head off. "Selene! What has gotten into you?!" Paul yelled. "I'm better!" she yelled kicking him again. "I'm stronger than all of them and they're mine to control! And when the reactor is brought to us this can all be ours to control, my love!" she yelled. "But this isn't...you," he wheezed. Suddenly Jason burst through the window and tackled Selene. The other vampires tried to save Selene but Paul grabbed them and threw them back. Rachel came in and set all of them on fire. "My babies!" Selene yelled. Jason grabbed her neck and bit into it. He was there for a few seconds before he reeled back and was spitting out the blood. Selene lay on the floor unconscious. "Her blood...was poisoned," Jason spat. "How?" Paul asked panting. "They fed her demon blood," Jason answered. "Demon blood?" Paul asked bewildered. "Mia did say that demon worshipers had part in this mess. It must be what they needed to make some of these monsters. That is apparently what they used on me. Demon blood gave me dark magic," Rachel replied. "Thank you, thank you so much." Paul said crouched by Selene's body. "I figured you'd need my help, dog," he smiled. Paul grinned slightly. "Let's get her out of here," Paul picked her up. "Head toward city hall; that's where everyone else is," Rachel said. "Let's go," Jason said.

Whitney and Logan found the cave at the top of the mountain. "We need to scope out the cave before you destroy it," Logan suggested. "I can fire bend us some light when we get inside but I have no idea what monsters are inside," Whitney said. She quietly landed in front of the cave. No one was outside the cave so Whitney snuck inside the cave to find no one there. "Where is everyone?" Logan asked. "I'm not sure. Let's just find the reactor and get out of here," Whitney said. They both crouched into a fighting stance as they crept deeper into the cave. After what seemed like hours they saw a faint glow of purple from deep within the cave. The more they walked the brighter it
