Chapter 18 - Cubes, huh?

"Ow, ow, ow!"

"Oh, quit complaining! I'm not even putting much strength into this!"

Y/N glared at the blonde teacher before her, in response, the woman glared back.

"Stop fooling around you two. We have training to do." Kakashi respectfully interrupted their glaring contest.

The two stopped going at each others threats and instead calmed down. Not because Kakashi said to, but rather because of the upcoming chunin exams.

"Tsunade?"

"Hmm?"

"When you do healing ninjutsu, how much chakra do you need to use?"

"It depends on the injury. Anyways, that's not your training! Now get back to punching those rocks!"

"Okay, okay."

Sheesh, who does she think she is? My mother?

The thought slightly hurt Y/N, considering her family was well... deceased. In fact, she missed the feeling of having a mother, even if she wasn't real. A small, sad smile formed on the girl's lips. Every now and then she would forcefully be reminded of her twisted fate and the lonelines that went with it.

At least now she had -
"Kashi! What the hell?"

"Guess my throw was a bit far to the left."

"YOUR TARGET IS IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!"

"Oh well. "

Of course, he was smirking. Yes, he did just tell her to start training seriously, but when he looked back to check up on the two, he saw Y/N looking down, clenching her fists, with (probably) the saddest look: she looked hopeless, as if she lost all the will at that very moment.

Likely, he was just over-thinking it, but despite his internal convictions that it wasn't his problem, he still tried to distract the kunoichi. Luckily, it worked and she glared playful daggers at him.

A short distance away, Obito watched the scene play out. So Y/N and Tsunade (the special guest) were training; then they argued; Kakashi broke them apart; Y/N looked at Tsunade longingly; and Kakashi made Y/N smile and laugh by annoying her.
Admittedly, Obito did not like how Kakashi suddenly started to care so much for Y/N, although he couldn't explain why. It was an unsolvable mystery to him.

"Obito, stop staring. They might get suspicious." Minato laughed at the poor raven haired boy as he figured that there was something going on between his two most playful students (aka Y/N and Obito). As saddening as it was, he also knew Obito fell head over heels for Rin - atleast he convinced himself he did - so there was little he could do to help without hurting one of them.

Y/N, a worthy, loyal, member of the village - and playful at that - fell for the most clumsy Uchiha you could find, yet his heart and soul were pure and true; his heart belonged to none other than Rin, the sweetest girl in the whole village, though she was in love with the coldest, most distant fighter, Kakashi Hatake, while he supposedly loved no one (although some may say there are hints to this changing).

However you looked at it, someone would get hurt - there was no ideal solution, especially not if their hearts weren't in it.

Even through his daze, Minato blocked all of Obito's attacks with ease, a subconscious defence. Obito, now more focused, began a fury of consecutive blows, forcing Minato to snap out of his little daydream. The channeling of energy seemed to work effectively as Minato eventually jumped back. He congratulated his student for his progress, though he had no idea where the sudden energy even came from.

Perhaps... perhaps Obito was thinking about Y/N, or Rin, making him concentrate. A straight goal: to protect. If you have a reason for fighting, then the pain and hardships are worthwhile.

Atleast thats what Minato thought. His mind wandered to how he met and saved Kushina, the love of his life. The reflection of determination to protect was clear in Obito, although for protecting who was the question. Either Rin or Y/N huh...

Unless...

No...

It couldn't be...

What if... Obito too fell for Hatake??

As soon as that thought passed his mind, Minato dismissed it, and pretended he had never thought about it.

Meanwhile, Obito stared with a determined expression at his teacher. The Uchiha soon got confused by the lack of action and decided to try out his Fire Ball Jutsu again  this time to bring Sensei back to the real world.

The blond Jonin reacted nearly immediately, glaring daggers at his student.

"Obito..." he growled.

"Y-yes sir!"

"I think its time for you to spar with Kakashi round about now."

Obito stared wide eyed, and regretted his poor choice.

Facing Minato was one thing: he wouldn't try to hurt him too much. But Kakashi... he's a completely different story: if looks could kill, Obito would be dead hundred times over by the silvernette.

"What did you do to annoy Sensei, idiot?"

"I used the Fire Ball Juts- wait a minute, I'm not an idiot!"

Staring blankly, Kashi' readied his weapon.

"When I say go, you two will run at each other, with the intent to kill"

Kakashi, try not to actually kill him though.

As Minato said they did. The fight began.

~~Back with Y/N and Tsunade~~

"Damnit, so close..."

"Nope, not even."

"H-huh?!"
"What do you mean not even close??? Look at the crack!"

"Pff, childsplay"
"Watch and learn."

Tsunade demonstrated her far superior skill by neatly dicing a nearby rock into cubes. Yes, cubes. The precision was unimaginable.

Y/N gazed in admiration, hoping one day her own skill would be as fine as that. Tsunade gracefully took a step back, inspecting her art. She smiled with content at her work.

"Was that just from chakra control?"

"Mostly, but also a bit of precision and skill."

"Woah."

The two continued training for the next hour or so, until finally it was time for lunch.

So far so good, as they say.

Okay so, this chapter is short, it was actually meant to have an INTENSE bit, but I figured that it would be way too soon for that. Simply put, the story needs to slowly develop, not have everything happen at once - like in previous chapters.

Also- IM SORRRYYYYY FOR NOT UPDATINGGG.
I've been through so much since I went back to story for a while, that I couldnt handle doing everything. As much as I like to write, I couldn't keep up with it all.

Like I have 3 weeks of mock/official exams right now (depending on if my exams actually happen), not to mention I have been in a lockdown 2 weeks ago, and teachers give WAY too much work.

Aside from that, I have a family situation too, so its really not great.

Then I found out I'm MOVING next year, so my friends and I had to come to terms with it - my best friend and I cried for ages when I told her.

So thats my story of what has been happening. I know, I know, and Im sorry that I couldn't update, but honestly, when I looked back at the comments I got this sudden urge to carry the story on. (But thinking of what is meant to happen next was a struggle).

Anyways, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS STORY THUS FAR.
