<<continued from previous memory chapter>>
A smile made its way onto Y/N's face.
"D-Did you call me y-your f-f-friend?"
"Uh, yeah." Pink dusted his cheeks once again. "Well it's nearly 7AM so I guess-"
"7AM?!"
Realization dawned onto Y/N, Minato-Sensei was going to train her from 6AM and told her not to be late! Damn it!
"Obito, I have to go. Now."
"You can't-"
"I have to"
"I'll go too then"
Y/N nodded, she would need him to help her a little more- of course, she had planned to repay him in someway. Though how would she train in her current state? Maybe seeing a medic wouldn't be a bad idea... But it cannot be in a hospital. Not there. Maybe that Rin could help her, as Obito said earlier.
First things first, she would need to ask for forgiveness from her sensei then let Rin cure her injuries and after that... everything would be back to what it was. A life in solitude, training, surviving and training again. Then sleeping in the open fresh night air- which Y/N didn't mind as much, it was calm and peaceful; nearly perfect if not for the lack of luxurious bedding.
A cool breeze swirled around the two 9-year-olds as they walked towards the training grounds, maintaining casual talk on their way. Shining down upon Konoha, the rays of sunlight illuminated the streets in a dazzling light. A wonderful morning feeling spread throughout the village as more and more citizens awoke to the new day. Children going to school, adults preparing and shinobi awaiting missions.
Y/N and Obito arrived at the training grounds, Obito's left arm wrapped around Y/N's waist to support her while Y/N was somewhat subconsciously leaning against Obito's form. Both were constantly smiling. In the distance, Y/N saw a tall blond man with a jonin outfit. His form leaned against the fence while his arms were crossed over his chest.
Slowly approaching him, the pair grew nervous. The man saw them and began walking towards them. His features showed no sign of any specific emotion. Y/N was about to speak but was silenced with Minato lifting his hand in the air.
"I assume you have a good reason to be late. And that is probably also why Obito is with you" Obito was shocked that the great Yellow Flash of the Leaf remembered his name.
"However, I believe I must say this first; I have been assigned a long-term mission and will not be here for quite some time. Therefore, I'm saddened to say that I cannot be your mentor, not yet atleast- although I have found a good teacher for you" His face bared a generous and sorry smile as he continued.
"His name is Jiraiya-"
"The Jiraiya?! As in Jiraiya the Toad Sage? As in one of the legendary sannin!? Woah!"
Obito was so over-enthusiastic that he rambled on about how amazing Jiraiya was - until a certain blond jonin stopped him.
" Correct, he is a great teacher. In fact, I am a student of his" Minato stated proudly.
Y/N was completely perplexed, a legendary sannin as her teacher? This was way beyond belief, and yet here she was. Minato Namikaze - The Yellow Flash of the Leaf- had just told her that one of the three sannin will be her teacher. Even if this was temporary, it sure was amazing.
Although... Y/N would miss Minato, even if she didn't know him long (not more than a day), he was one of the very few who were actually kind and nice towards her. She valued that.
And so, her new journey would soon begin.
~Back to current times~
Re-living those times, even briefly, made Y/N shed tears endlessly. She had lost her parents, family and now a friend.
All thanks to that stupid mistake. One damned mistake.
Today was a day where Y/N would not be assigned a mission as her team had been given the day off, and so, that left her with nothing to do. Hence, she was training. Not necessarily to improve her skills but to keep her mind off everything- like her past mistakes. And the dreadful punishments she now must endure.
Somewhere in between her callous attacks her eyes had become watery, and the salty liquid slowly trickling down her face. It was as if her own tears felt pity as they nourished her skin, a tingly feeling being left behind as the tears dripped onto the floor.
Unable to bare it much more, Y/N lifted herself of the floor from her kneeling position. Tears continued to flow. Her form slightly shaking, making it harder for girl to keep balance.
Finally calming her senses, Y/N forcefully stopped the river of tears and wiped her face. Her skills at hiding her emotions were very useful at times like these, she could have cried for the longest time and no one would notice the difference.
However, a rustle in the tree startled the kunoichi. Ensuring she had an easy access to her weapons, she tried to sense the chakra. Damn, they hid it well.
As if on cue, a figure leaped off the tree, right in front of Y/N. The silver gravity-defying hair was a total give away. Before her was the great, amazing, one and only Kakashi Hatake (note the sarcasm). Y/N sighed, already knowing where this would end.
"Shinobi should not show emotions, or else they are easy targets for the enemy"
Of Course, Kakashi and his amazing rules and advice.
"Tch, like your one to talk. You treat your comrades like enemies ya know"
"Rules are rules. And no, I do not treat any of you like enemies"
"Whatever you say"
"If I did treat you like enemies, you would be long dead"
Y/N and Kakashi have always had opposite views on this argument, Y/N saying rules are important but not more than friends while Kakashi simply states "Rules above all". Throughout the two years in which Y/N and Kakashi worked together, he had never been nice to her. Never. And yet, here Y/N was, still trying to persuade him to change. As for Kakashi well he was... Kakashi. In other words, stubborn to the core. Surprising as this sounds, they've only ever exchanged blades twice. Once with Kakashi winning. Once with Y/N winning. Both of them were strong, but Y/N could never bring herself to actually hurt Kakashi, he was her teammate afterall. And so, no major wounds were inflicted in those two fights.
Kakashi leaned against the fence. The silence was almost deafening.
