Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay for these next few chapters, I figured I'd take a bit more time than I usually would to update and drop 3 chapters. If you would rather me do this, let me know, or I can just update a chapter whenever I have one written.

Keres's POV
I watch in sadden shock as the medic's rushing the raptor's pasture. Owen places a hand onto my shoulder, dragging me away from the bloodied scene.
"This is my fault," I tell him quietly when we enter the control center. Owen shakes his head before falling silent. I could practically hear the gears turning in his mind.
"I don't know exactly what happened back there. But it wasn't normal. I haven't had to use the tranquilizers on them in years." He paused, "and either way, they've never fought this violently." I wince at that. What set them off? Owen was chewing on the same question.
"I'm taking a shot in the dark and assuming my presence in their territory set off some sort of reaction in the chain of command for them," I mumble quietly. Owen considers my words. "It's probably my fault and I shouldn't go back into the cage with them. It'll only cause more problems." The older trainer nods quietly before turning to me.
"That's fair. Well, there aren't raptors lucid to train, obviously, so we'll grab some food and return after the medics are done to see what their verdict is." I shrug in agreement. Guilt weighs down my motions as we head towards our vehicles and separate from there.
Delta's POV
Darkness invades my senses as I struggle to overcome the sedatives. My eyes peel open and almost instantly I regret it. White fills every area in the room and I struggle against the restraints holding me to the metal table.
Mate... Must get back to mate.
My heart aches as I think of her. How long has it been? She might be in danger! Who knows what those doctors are doing after they made us sleep.
The wounds on my back, ache softly, as a human enters the room. I struggle harder, trying to get the woman to release me.
"Ahhh, you're up." A familiar voice sounds next to my ear. I growl loudly, my struggling doubling. Hoskins walks in view as he bends down to whisper something in the doctor's ear. My tail flicks forward in irritation.
"Let me up," I growl, but the humans ignore me.
"You can proceed with the operation," Hoskins tells the woman. She giggles before pressing a button on the desk. A few more doctors file into the room. A mask is fitted over my muzzle and I thrash in the restraints growling and snarling loudly. Slowly a gas enters my body and my limbs slump with the effort of keeping me awake. Finally, my eyes close and I drift asleep.
Sorry Mate.
Keres's POV
Sorry Mate.
A soft voice fills my head and I look quickly around to see who said it. Sam looks at me in annoyance.
"What are you doing?" He questions noticing my confused look.
"Did you hear someone?" I ask. He shakes his head.
"No one is here beside us." My stomach aches in realization and I slump in my seat. Ignoring my brother's questioning gaze. As the silence stretches on, I almost moan in relief when my phone rings. Quickly I answer it.
"Johnson."
"Keres. Get to the pasture ASAP."
"On my way." The panic in Owen's voice makes me stand quickly. The man hangs up quickly and I shove my phone into my back pocket before pressing a kiss to Sam's forehead. "Work emergency. I don't know how long I'll be so; make sure you're in bed by 9." Sam nods reluctantly.
"Will you be home in time to read to me?" He asks quietly. I wince at the reminder.
"I'll try buddy. I don't know what's going on. Worse case, I'll read two books tomorrow. Ok?" He nods in response. I squeeze his hand before spinning on my heel and rushing toward my 4-wheeler. Worried fills my veins and I rush back to the raptor's pasture at high speeds before coming to a swift stop in front of the gates. I hurriedly type in my code before dashing to find Owen.
Standing next to him is a man I haven't met before. "They'll be back soon." He promises as Owen growls.
"Why were they taken in the first place?!" He asks and the man stumbles over his words before pulling together a shit excuse.
"For their injuries." I snort quietly, coming to a stop next to Owen.
"The raptors have never been taken out of the pasture, it's dangerous too." The man shrugs as a van pulls into the yard stopping backward and connects to a port in the side of the pasture. Owen sighs softly in relief as the van reveals the raptors, perfectly fine, roaring in annoyance. A click sound fills the air before the raptors dart out of the van and into the arena and the van door shuts before pulling away quickly. I worriedly check over their bodies looking for their injuries but finding none. I shoot Owen a questioning look. All he offers is a shrug. I sigh rubbing my eyes in irritation before pushing my concerns to the back of my mind. At least they were safe.
"I'm going to go into the pasture and check over them. I want you to stay here and supervise. No need to risk another problem." I nod in agreement watching as the gate slides open.
Again sorry for the delayed updates. Do not worry, I will be spamming with 2 more chapters. Also thank you so much for the comments. They mean so much and absolutely make my day. This chapter is around 990 words, I know I said 1,000 but I'm hoping that's close enough for you all.
