Sorry for the delay with these few chapters, I was going to update on the 3rd but I didn't want to take any attention off of the BLM movement. Although it's not like I have very much attention or reach . :,) And since everyone seems to be enjoying these spam chapters, I'll continue with them. Little remind this is chapter picks up from where we left off in chapter "The Plan".

Owen watches in amazement at Keres's braveness.  Of course, when Keres had first called out to him he hadn't thought she would sacrifice herself for him but the more he recalls their experiences together, the more he kicks himself in the ass for not realizing it sooner. That was just who the girl was. Possibly if she was older, Owen could see himself feeling more for Keres but regardless of her admirable traits, he already had eyes for certain stoic women by the name of Claire. The gate locks him away from the raptors and the young girl he had begun to view as a sister.

Either way, the plan was smart. And honestly, it should have worked. In a way it did. The raptors did hate the girl enough to distract them away from the bigger prey which was Owen. What the trainer and the girl did not take into consideration was the raptor's intelligence. The reptiles had never planned on eating their alpha but did use him to draw the actual target into the pasture with them.

Owen had to give it to them. And if they weren't targeting his best friend, he might actually feel proud. But alas they were targeting Keres and because of their stupidity, they had fallen right into the raptor's trap.

"Owen! Do it now!" I tell him. The sandy-haired man dashes to the gate, slipping under it before the raptors even notice he moved. The reptiles cock their heads towards the shutting gate before they slowly turn back to me and their eyes narrow on me.

That's when it hits me. They did this on purpose. And I had fallen right into their laps.

Blue takes another step forward.

Shit.

The gate locked loudly. It had an emergency locking system and was designed to keep everything in the pasture inside the pasture. This, in turn, keeps everything outside of nature, out. I had actively press the button before yelling out to the raptors. I wasn't dumb, I knew Owen wouldn't leave me inside the pasture at the mercy of the predators if he knew my full plan. He would have stayed and in turn risk both of our lives. It was a calculated risk and one I would make again. I just hope mom and Sam could forgive me because I wasn't going to let Owen die. I prayed silently in my head, hoping whatever god(s) were listen would take mercy on my soul and at least give me a clean, quick death. Please, I know I don't pray often but please have mercy on me.

Blue takes another step forward and I fall back with a whimper.

"S-stay back, Blue," I beg. This was how I was going to die. I gasp out as the raptors collectively take another few steps towards me. I scramble back trying to get to my feet as panic keeps my limbs locked. Echo clicks loudly as he speeds towards me. Too hungry to play into his brother's game of playing with their food. The smallest raptor approaches faster then I can move back, coming to a stop in front of me before pausing. Please someone take care of my family. His snout opens, warm breath brushing the hairs on my arms. I flinch pulling my arms up around my head to protect it from damage.

I knew this was going to happen. I felt it. I should have listened to my gut. I literally warned Owen, but no, don't worry Keres. It'll be fine, Keres. You being a mom, Keres. I swear to god if I get out of this I'm going to murder Owen. And then bring him back to life to kill him again.

The world seems to pause as I wait for the final blow.

Something wet hits my cheeks and before I can process it, roars rip through the pasture and I become aware that I am surrounded by the reptiles. It takes me a few moments to process what happened and I realize Echo had only licked me. The other three brothers bend contributing their spit to my body and I gag.

"Ew! Get off!" I yelp pushing the scaly heads away from me. Delta chitters behind me pushing his nose into my right shoulder.

"Keres! Are you okay?" Owen asks pressed up against the metal cage. "Just hold on. We're trying to get the cage open." The raptor's growl startles both Owen and me. "What are they doing?" The older trainer questions. I chew on my bottom lip, not noticing the way Charlie's and Delta's eye follow the movement, their eyes trained on the lip sandwiched between my teeth. Blue takes a step into the forest and his brothers look towards him.  Echo moves to follow him but stop looking back at me.

"I think they want me to follow them."

Oof cliff hanger. Sorry I realize, I do this a lot. I'll try not to as often but I just like giving you guys reason to keep reading on. I think As I wrote this, I decided I'd spam post with 3 chapters? Maybe 4? It really depends on what I'm feeling. I have about 10 written but I don't want to post too many at one time so you guys get bored. I really am trying to keep this both as interesting as possible. Anyways, if you have any thoughts, suggestions, theories, things you want to see from this book in the future, PLEASE leave a comment. I promise I'll respond.
