Chapter 12: The oasis for the lost

Days had passed since they started their journey for a cure and it's felt like years the Friends were bored, hungry, afraid, and worst of all they were lost they weren't even sure if there was a cure for Kate and they all started to miss home since it's felt like forever they had forgotten what the word home even meant the bushes blew in the wind the grass brussled as its flowers bloomed the sun directed toward them making it hard to stand and keep walking No water, no food, and nowhere to relax Kate felt guilty for it she made her friends go on this journey she knew she should have done it alone but eventually it was getting dark and the sun was setting and the Friends got tired of walking so they decided it was time to settle in for the night so they fetched some supplies to set up Camp and the owl tweeted in the night and they all drifted to sleep. Kate found herself frozen in confusion as she was in her castle her home no sign of Unknown or his evil counterparts to her friends she quietly muttered hello but no one replied she walked down the halls the paintings of her relatives were replaced with her friends but they looked different the walls looked stained with paint or was it blood she began to walk down the stairs she saw her friend Twinkle paw but she couldn't see who she was talking to all she could see was a wicked smile which looked familiar and a green flame that made her stay on the step it was him his wicked smile, his green flame, his laugh twinkle paw was in trouble and she couldn't do anything she decided she had to shoot magic at him would it work far away from her will it work she shot a yellow orb and a purple and burnt orange flower at him the only thing she heard was static as it became darker and darker Kate cried her friend could die and her hand were tied and she thought if she was ever good and if Unknown was right and they are the same the light grew around the empty space and she woke up the sky was covered in a light blue it was dawn Day had arrived her friends were looking at their surroundings the sight around them it looked like an oasis A young dove came over and had a angel like voice that mesmerized them hi my name is cupid and welcome to the oasis for the lost Kate looked confused lost but we're not lost maybe not lost in surroundings but you all seem to have lost yourselves Kate you've lost your passion your parents once had, Bucky you lost your love for books and cooking in denial that you've lost your childhood home, and Merith you've lost your connection to skyler that brought the two of you together skyler wonders if you still feel the same about him like before everyone loses themselves which is why this is the oasis of renewal and rebuilitation to reflect your life and passions the four glanced she was right Kate had a gut feeling that something was off after the last oasis with queen candy corn however Kate had just met her she shouldn't be quick to assume but should she be Bucky Kate whispered I don't trust her Bucky slightly nodded she knows to much about us Merith and skyler both said they should watch her Kate replied to Cupid Ok I admit we are lost however once we do we are continuing our journey Cupid had a grin fine very well the Friends looked around Kate wondered about her parents and what Cupid meant by losing the passion they had maybe the passion to rule a kingdom she thought about the great times they had the picnic with her mother, her father hunting with her, shooting her first bow arrow at a target or the time she injured lord blazen's wing all those years ago she had found herself that she knew she loved being a princess but honored more to help her people and went to search for Bucky. Bucky found a dusty book under the tree it was folktales like jack and Jill, the three little pigs, jack and the beanstalk, and the tortoise and the hare he remembered the books he read and the imagination that came with them he loved books and he loved reading to Kate even more Bucky then smelled an aroma of a buffet smells of pancakes, barbecued pork ribs, veggie stir fry, omelets, and kettle corn the smells made Bucky remember when he used to cook and the smiles on his fathers face when he was still alive Kate chased after Bucky I found myself she hollared same here however the reunion didn't last long as a shadow of a dove knocked Bucky out and soon for Kate it all went black. Merith and skyler looked at clouds under a tree they watched as the clouds formed into shapes Skyler looked at them and started to say the ones he saw that one looks like a tree, that one looks like a plane, or that one looks like a house Merith glimpsed over one it looked like a missel toe she looked at skyler a sparkle in her eye she pulled skyler closer to her and gave him a passionate kiss she too had found herself and skyler smiled giving her a passionate kiss back. Kate and Bucky had awoken the lighting in the room was dim, the walls were beige which made it look bleak the single chair made it feel like an interrogation room the door swung open and a dove appeared it was Cupid where are we Kate said firmly the question you should be wondering is why your are here Bucky looked confused let me explain Cupid said you are here because you both have found who you are no one here is supposed to figure who they are and why they are here you guys were unaffected by my little spell and for that you will be here forever No Kate cried good luck escaping oh and I'll say this my name isn't Cupid it's peppermint I'm the sister of queen candy corn who of which you have killed peppermint grinned and flew out locking the friends inside. Merith and skyler looked around for their friends and they tried to call them Kate! Bucky! Where are you? No replies the Friends looked beyond them and a blurry house covered the fog they raced toward it peppermint saw this and went after them. Merith Kate said Skyler said Bucky they heard faint voices Kate and Bucky they thought the door was locked looking for something peppermint said holding a key in her beak skyler pulled a roundhouse move on her and got the key skyler unlocked the door and bursted through the door. After the friends were back together they headed to think of an escape plan which didn't take long before Kate thought of one the end of the fog if we get there we should escape the oasis the Friends all nodded as they raced after the end of the fog peppermint flew after them her screech caught Bucky off guard he started spitting glass icicles in her direction and kept running peppermint cornered Kate and she shot a orb at her the friends kept doing so as they raced to the end of the fog. The friends finally made it out and they all smiled except Merith she bent down and began to cry they looked as they all sat down comforting Merith as they viewed the city that once stood now burned to ash.
