BETRAYAL.
The first thing I notice when I open my eyes is the almost unbearable pain my forehead is going through. I touch the space just above my left brow before letting out a grunt as I try to make my vision work.
Okay, at least you are alive. Now try and see what is going on. I can almost hear Fred's voice in my head. And the voice is right, I need to see what's going on and what happened. I didn't think I would loose it this fast.
My eyes take a few minutes to focus on the stars above me. They are a lot. Just like back home. Am I home? Of course I am not. There's something about the sky which seems off... it's too good to be true.
The pain in my head slowly calms down. It hurts, like hell. But it is calming down. I decide to try and get up, but I hear a sweet, soft voice pampering to my ears.
"Easy. You have to take this before you even try to move. Trust me, it will make you feel like new." Vaiana says as she notices my eyes moving around. She gives me a spoonful (where did she get this spoon from?) of a thick, fructose liquid which sweetely burns my throat.
My eyes suddendly dart around as I realise I've just let someone give me a strange liquid while in my injured, dreamy haze. Is this even Vaiana? What is this that she gave me?
"Oh, don't worry silly. Your sponsors left this for us, written instructions and all. No way we could have kept going without this. Just a few minutes until it kicks in. Don't speak yet, I'll just fill you in."
I notice it's just the two of us. It looks like we are still in the cornucopia, and it's night, of course. I hope I slept through the entire first week and Vaiana is here to finish me off so we can all get this done with.
"After the avalanche, no one else died. Girl from 12 started it. We've been laying down all day, and half of the night. The boys decided to go walk around and try to haunt, since it's been a while something interesting has happened. Figured it would buy us some time for you and I to get better so we can leave for good tomorrow. I'm glad, starting to feel like a pussy hanging around the cornucopia for so long. There is nothing here anyways. Feel any better?"
I nod at her in awe. I had never heard her speak so much before. What if we run off and just form an aliance between us two? "Are we alone?" I manage to mutter.
"Yeah, we are fine though. You are gonna notice your pain wears away. You may stand up then."
And she is right. All pain wears away and as soon as I straighten my spine against the hard metal cone, I feel like new.
"You slept for hours. Now, if you are fine, would you mind keeping a little watch? Won't be long til dawn and til they are back." She says as she turns around to dooze off in slumber. I don't know what to do with myself.

With no kill in their hands, they don't come back empty handed. Bags of fresh-catched fish and happy faces. I'm skeptical, since I don't trust anything that comes from this arena, which, of course, makes Aquor mad. I eat it anyways, since everyone else does. With full bellies, the guys rest for a few hours while Vainana and I make a watch. That is until, coming from the forest, we hear a laugh, followed by some smoke rising above the clouds.
"Someone is getting ready for breakfast. Let's get going." Phanuel says, to which Aquor smiles. I don't like how close they have been getting, and I hate how they feel like the leaders of the pack. There is something truly off about this alliance which makes me want to get out now. On top of that, Sean is acting really strange, handling weapons I didn't know he even had.
