"Dad says I have to go to the northern training camp soon since everyone is sure I'll present as an alpha." Jeongguk mumbled, his fingers playing with Taehyung's hair as the other was leaning his head on his knees, both laying on the grass in their favorite spot,m—a clearing of trees that was covered in flowers of all kinds. They enjoyed laying there for hours, listening to the entrancing sounds of nature and feeling the warm rays of the sun on their skin—it almost felt like they were in their own piece of heaven.
They've found it when they were both 10, playing around in their wolf forms as their mothers watched them to make sure they didn't get hurt or that rogues didn't find them alone in a forest. Rogue attacks were not that usual but it was still dangerous to let pups on their own inside such an immense forest.
"But you'll come back, right? And then we'll become each other's, just like we promised." The younger by a year whispered, his hand taking a hold of Jeongguk's in order to kiss his knuckles, a sign of appreciation, love, and respect for his future mate.
The older smiled, leaning down to press his lips on Taehyung's forehead, inhaling his scent as he nuzzled it in his hair. "Of course I'll come back. We're mates. I'll always come back for you, no matter what happens."
Jeon Jeongguk left with the other young soon to be alphas a few days later, leaving a crying Taehyung in the arms of his father and a promise that he'll come back for him floating between them, into the thin space creating between them—space that was widening more with each day that passed.
Taehyung did wait, he waited for five, long, painful years, and when word about the others finally coming back reached his ears, he couldn't contain his happiness. However, next to the said pure joy he felt at the thought of finally seeing his fated love again, Taehyung was scared.
He was scared of what was going to happen when Jeongguk, the man he's probably grown into, the powerful alpha he's become, would find out that his mate, his omega, was promised to another man.
No one expected the outcome.
