A different Naruto than the one you know

Chapter 5

Naruto's pov:

      "Alright everyone masks off and please introduce yourselves once again to Naruto." Haha instructed with a smile. The people in front of me began removing their masks one by one, the first one on the very left looked like a teenager and was a lean male with dark raven locks and eyes that were just as dark. He was very stoic so I believe he must have been the leader while Haha and I were away. Mr. Broody said his name was Itachi Uchiha.

      Next to him was another teen but this one was female and had short purple hair and seemed to be the loudest in the group and the one who showed the most emotion as well. She introduced herself as Anko with a smile and a peace sign. Beside her was a man a little older than both teens, maybe in his mid twenties? He had brown hair pulled back in a ponytail he was a few inches taller than Itachi and Anko. He had brown eyes and tanned skin with a scar going across the bridge of his nose. He politely introduced himself as Iruka and I could tell his kindness was sincere.

      Lastly was the weird quiet guy with gravity defying silver hair. When he took his mask off, THERE WAS ANOTHER ONE UNDERNEATH! I face palmed at this and everyone laughed at my reaction. One eye was covered but the one that wasn't looked eerily similar to Itachi's. He was the tallest in the group but not as tall as Haha. He spoke roughly stating his name was Kakashi.

      After all their introductions there was a knock on the door and the four jumped into the shadows around the room. I placed my genjutsu on to show a rowdy short six year old with sunshine blond hair and a tan with three whisker marks. That are not as prominent as they are without my disguise.

      Haha strode towards the door and opened it slightly to see who it was. Not a moment later did she move to the side with a small bow and swept her hand towards the room.

      "Good evening, Hokage-sama." Haha's tone was light and respectful as she let the old man from earlier into our house. Once he was inside the four anbu stepped back out of the shadows and he nodded to each of them and they bowed back. The old man surveyed the room and stopped when he saw me. I wasn't sure why but he smiled warmly at me but his eyes held sadness.

      "Hello Naruto it has been a very long time since I saw you last. My name is Hiruzen Sarutobi" He came forward and stuck his hand out. I carefully took his hand and he shook it. "I am the third Hokage." Once he said that I'm sure my eyes were as big a saucers.

      After meeting the third hokage, he explained that Haha would have to go back to her job of being her team's captain as soon as possible and that if I wanted he could look after me if a mission took her out of the village. I told him I would think about it and I would probably take him up on it if my brothers were also out of the village at the same time. To which he nodded in understanding but looked glad I didn't say no.

      He and Haha's team had bid us goodnight and left and I turned to look at my beautiful, amazing and sweet mother. She was as pretty as ever and she looked at me with a smile and tilted her head to our new sleeping room. We entered and I got ready for bed and she tucked me in. As I told her goodnight I also told Kurama goodnight and just as I was falling asleep I heard them say it back.

      The year seemed to pass in a flash. There were three times that both Haha, Utukata, Roshi and Han had all been out of the village at the same time. (Utukata, Roshi and Han are my older brothers as well as jinchuuriki.) The first time I noticed all the glares the villagers would give me and heard some of their rude whispers.

      The second time I had been out late and it was snowing when I heard some voices and then a cry for help. I had ran over as soon as possible and saw three older boys hitting a young girl! So I yelled at them and drew their attention away from her and attacked them. After I had hit them enough to make them run off I saw the girl was still there curled and crying. Slowly I approached her and asked her, her name and told her she was okay now. I had to wait a minute before she calmed down enough to answer me and told me her name was Hinata. After another minute or so I took her hand and walked her back to the Hyuga estate before bidding her good night and went home.

      One time the villagers attacked me, but Haha showed up and killed some of them before they could light the alcohol they poured on me. Sure I had cuts and bruises and a few kuni in my legs but Haha took me home and treated and bandaged everything. Haha was so distraught that I had gotten attacked. She told me how that was the reason she took her 'mission'. I hugged her and told her it was okay because she did keep me from all of that. That night was the first time I really saw Haha cry.

      My birthday, October 10th. Haha, my kyoudai and Haha's team were all at our home celebrating and I got a whole bunch of presents! I couldn't believe they were all so amazing. Haha gave me some scrolls that had some of my parents' things in them. My kyoudai gave me scrolls of different jutsu from their home villages. Haha's team gave me my very own anbu mask that was a fox.

      Suddenly we heard yelling outside the house and everyone had pained expressions except for Haha she just looked sad. Confused, I asked what was going on.

      "Today every year on your birthday they hold a festival for the Kyuubi being 'killed', but they also hold a fox hunt." Haha paused to take a breath. "Because I took you away at a young age you never had to deal with the so-called 'fox hunt' but now that we're back they assume I will just hand over my child to be hunted and killed!" Haha slammed her hands against the table in rage at the idiots outside. Since she wasn't paying attention she broke the table.

      Haha took a deep breath and looked at me "Naruto I need you to henge yourself into someone else, someone the villagers wouldn't notice and go with Kakashi, Iruka and Anko to Kakashi's house. I am going to henge into you and lead the villagers on their beloved 'fox hunt'." Haha said beloved with so much venom I thought the plants in the room almost died.

      Soon Haha looked exactly like the henge I use outside of the house and gently took the fox mask in my hands and placed it on her face. I had henged into a plain village kid that no one would notice and gave her a hug before I was shinshuned to Kakashi's. All night Kakashi, Iruka and Anko kept guard inside the house while Itachi kept guard outside. I was worried about Haha, but I finally drifted to sleep when an ear splitting scream was heard throughout the village.

      I shot straight up from where I'd been sleeping and tried to run to Haha and save her but her team held onto me and I cried and cried while fighting to get to her. I don't remember passing out, but I do remember waking up the next morning to the smell of breakfast and when I opened my eyes I saw Itachi, Kakashi, Iruka and Anko sitting silently at the table staring at the food in front of them. As I looked around the room my eyes landed on Haha sleeping in a corner and her right arm, the side of her face and both legs were wrapped in bandages.

      I guess I was staring at Haha pretty hard because she moved and then slowly she raised her head and looked at me with her one eye that was visible at the moment and smiled the smile that told me she was going to be just fine before resting again.
