Three years ago

I had joined the Radcliff Public School which is situated on the banks of river Mississippi. Surrounded by hills and beautiful green garden that filled the air with a fragrance of happiness with its flowers. The river flowing near it gave the essence of cold breeze and calmness. Birds chirping everywhere bringing up a melodious environment.

I was a nerd who just kept on reading books for my pleasure and knowledge. The school provided a perfect environment for studying. The very first day, I had arrived too early in the school. I took out a book which was written by Mark Twain and started it until I heard footsteps arriving towards the classroom.

I raised my head to see who it was. It was a fair skinned, mesmerizing girl with wavy hair and a blue ribbon on it. Her blue eyes sparkled and she looked extremely gorgeous. I was just out struck by her beauty. She turned her heads towards me and I quickly dipped my head into the book I was reading. The sound of her foot was heard as she approached towards me and there she stood, in front of me.

“First day?” she asked.

I raised my head again. Oh god her contemptuous smile made her looks too cute.

“Yeah, first day.” I replied.

“So, what brings you this early to the school Mr.…..?”

“Daniel O’Connor”

“Hi, I’m Julia Olsen” and she extended her arms for a handshake. I responded back by extending my arms.

“Well, I love reading early in the morning and I’ve heard that this school gives you the perfect environment for deep study and meditation. So I thought of coming early and experiencing it.”

“So how was the experience?” she asked.

“Not bad” and she gave a silent laugh.

She went and sat on her seat which was two blocks ahead of me on the left. Soon everyone started arriving and started taking their seats. The lectures started and I was enjoying it. The teachers were amazing as the students enjoyed their teaching with full concentration.

Soon it was lunch break. Everyone went out of the class with their lunchboxes and I thought of going too. I was finding a perfect place to sit but the students had occupied most of ‘em. I started strolling around here and there with the lunch box in my hand hoping to find a place empty.

“Finding a seat?” came a voice from behind. I turned my head and saw Julia sitting alone on a wooden bench, near the river. I went and sat beside her. While I was having my lunch, turned my head towards her. She had a frown on her face and was staring at the fishes in the river.

“Hey” I said. But she gave no response and was continuously staring at the river. Then I snapped my fingers in front of her face. She looked at me with that frown, her eyes were red and then she released her expression and smiled, wiping her eyes. For once I was scared looking at the way she was looking at me.

“Everything’s alright?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She replied back. I offered her a sandwich, but she denied it instantly.

“So Ms Julia, what’s your hobby?”

“Killing” she replied. I moved back a bit, scared. And she laughed covering her mouth.

“Just kidding. I love animals, keeping them as pets. Playing, reading and strolling.”

“Ohh”, I replied back in relief. Then I continued with my lunch.
