Everyone was silent for a moment. Julia had her head bent down. I was staring at her surprised. Ria had her head in her arms, resting on her knee and staring at her too.
“How fast can you run?” asked Ria. I turned to her for hearing such an unexpected question. Julia turned her head up and looked at Ria.
“I would slit your throat and you wouldn’t even know. That fast.” And she bent her head down again. I chuckled, trying to hold my laugh for such an answer. Ria raised her eyes and turned it down again.
I turned to Julia and went and sat next to her. I took her face in my hand and took it up slowly. I looked into her eyes and I could see the pain in it. Even though they were dark but truth had been reflecting from it. She tried to ignore the eye contact and kept on looking down.
“Hey Julia, Look at me. I know there’s still the older one in you. We’ll try our best to help out.”
She gradually rolled her eyes up looking into my eyes. She could feel the warmth of my hand. She touched them and closed her eye, taking a deep breath.
Bell rang and everyone started rushing towards their classes. Julia opened her eyes and we all stood up and went towards our classes.
“Meet you guys after the school’s over.” I said. And they both nodded agreeing. We went and sat on our benches. It was Mrs. Shelly’s lecture and she came in the class coughing. She didn’t seem fine. She placed the books on the table and opened her bottle’s cap and drank a few sips from it. Then she closed it, wiping her forehead. And the lecture had started.
After the school
Yen rushed for his house and the others too. We three had decided to go together in order to discuss more things with Julia.
I had my hands dipped in the pocket and Julia just looked forward. Ria was on my left, kicking some stones. I turned to Julia
“Wasn’t Jack a vampire?” I asked, raising an eyebrow up.
She turned to me and said “No, he was the only member of the family who was neither a witch nor a vampire.” And she looked forward.
“But how did you have the power of summoning all the powerful spirits and why did they chose you?” asked Ria, turning to her.
“I don’t know. I myself don’t know how did I end up going in that castle.” She replied, looking forward. She looked hurt and confused at the same time. She rubbed her thumb on her palms. Her silky grey hair was swaying in the wind, making her look more beautiful.
“So, what are your abilities?” I asked in curiousness. We had arrived in an isolated area. Rocks all around us and our sound echoed as we spoke.
“Watch me.” She said, winking.
In a blink of an eye, she broke the wind barrier and was on the highest rock formation. I have to say, but the rock was too high. I was afraid if she might fall from there, but she had no expression of fright on her face. She squatted her feet and jumped from it and landed down gracefully.
After that, she turned to a big rock and she slammed her fist into that huge rock. I got a lump in my throat after seeing that. With a loud boom, the rock split up into two pieces. She was more than a feet away from us. And Ria placed her hand on my ears and whispered,
“She’s well gifted.”
“Thank you” screamed back Julia. And Ria stood there surprised with her eyes shot open.
“H—How could she hear that? I’d just whispered.” She said in a crumbling tone.
In a blink of an eye, Julia was in front of us.
“So” and she sighed.
“Speed, grace, strength and the ability to listen are some gifts that I’ve been gifted with.” She said with a smirk on her face.
And we stood there out struck by her words as she spoke.
“but if you’d seen me two years ago, then why did you join the school this year?” I asked in confusion. And we sat on a nearby bench.
“There was no way I could join your school.” And then she took a small pause.
“As a fresh vampire my thirst had been continuously increasing and all I could smell was fresh blood. I’d killed a dozen of people for it. I couldn’t control my hunger, then how could you expect me to be in the school?” she asked.
“So, how did you have a control on it?” I asked back in a mere confusion.
“I survive on blood bags and animal blood nowadays and since I’m a Vamp-Witch I could control my hunger in a few months.”
“Ohhh” exclaimed Ria, in a soft tone.
“Do you think Jack would have an idea about that book right now?” asked Ria.
“That’s what I’m worried about. He directly came and met Dany without even knowing him enough. I’m afraid he might get to know about it pretty much soon.” She said. Her brows had turned down to a bunny frown. My heartbeat had increased. I had remembered that last time I had placed the book on my bed leaving it exposed.Julia kept her hands on my shoulder and I turned to her. she looked deep into my eyes and spoke,
“No matter whatever happens Dany, you won’t invite him in your house.” And she takes her eye off me
.
“Why is that so?” asked Ria.“A vampire cannot enter into anyone’s house until and unless he is invited in by the owner of that house.” She explained.
“Who else does live in your house?” continued Julia, turning to me.
“My mom.” I said softly. But then I realized mom was alone at home. My brows raised in shock and all I was worried is that mom could invite a stranger in her home.
“Mom!, I’ll have to leave, guys.” And I ran away from there, headed towards home.
As I reached home, I’d seen the door open and a heavy voice coming from in. I slowly approached in and saw Jack sitting on the sofa with a glass of water in his hands! And my mom was standing beside him.
“Hello old Pal!” he spoke, raising his glass.
And my pulses had increased.
