"Forgive you?" Jimin scoffed, letting out a mordant chuckle. "Jungkook, you left Y/n. You fucking broke her heart. After all that, you expect me to forgive your ungrateful ass?" Jimin's voice was strident as he spoke.
"Wasn't I being considerate, Jimin? How can you expect me to stay with Y/n when my feelings changed for her? Isn't that more pathetic compared to what I actually did?" Jungkook tilted his head as his voice somewhat shuddered.
"Considerate? Wow, you really are... pathetic. Your feelings changed, huh?" Jimin mocked again as he raised his eyebrows, now standing right in front of the slightly taller boy. "Yes, my feelings changed. I... I stopped loving her." Jungkook sternly said, yet his voice turning weak towards the end.
Jimin rolled his eyes as he laughed, obviously out of pure satire. "So now what? You love...what's her name...Irene?" Jimin asked, again in a mocking tone. "Yes... I love... I love Irene." Jungkook said, trying his best to look deep into Jimin's eyes.
"You know what, Jungkook? You're still the same coward from high school." Jimin said, patting Jungkook's chest as he ran his fingers through his hair and walked away, leaving Jungkook alone, along with his sulking reflection.
Why did he find it so hard to admit to what Jimin had said. He was sure he loved Irene, or was it just that he was convincing himself or trying his best to make everyone, including himself, that he loved her.
There surely had to be a reason for that. He knew it deep down, but he never wanted to bring it up, or at least even spare a thought about it. He didn't want his heart to get wavered again.
But what Jungkook wondered as of now was, why did he feel a sudden soreness when Jimin called him a coward. Why did it bother him so much? As much as he hated to admit it, he thought Jimin was saying the right thing, but why him? Why did he have to call him that?
"Oh no, it's alright, I totally understand...... Yeah.... Congratulate her on my behalf, okay?....Yeah...Okay, bye." You sighed as you ended the call with Kyungseok, the barista at your book café. He was an amazing assistant and often helped you sort things out around your café.
Considering his good looks, girls usually dropped by your café just so they could get a glance of him, but you weren't complaining. He had a fair amount of knowledge when it came to books and novels, so that was just it.
"Y/n? What are you doing here?" You heard Jimin's voice come from behind you. You were standing a few metres away from the pub region, somewhere around the railings of the rooftop. It was much quieter here since no one was around.
"Oh... I got a call... I got a call from Kyungseok." You said, waking towards Jimin. He nodded as his palms found their way towards his pocket. "Ahhh... What was it about? Something important?" he asked again as both of you were walking towards the pub again.
"No...nothing important, but he called to inform me that he won't be coming for a week since it's his sister's wedding." You explained to which Jimin nodded again.
"Do you want me to help you in the café tomorrow and for the rest of the week?" Jimin asked once both of you were back inside the loud room. You shook your head. "No no, you have your own work to take care of, Chim. I'll be fine, okay?" you said, smiling.
Jimin pursed his lips as he simply nodded again. "Anyways wanna head back? I'm kinda sick of this party." he stated, something which you couldn't deny to, at all. "Ugh me too. Let's go back and just get Ice cream on our way." You said as both of you smiled later.
Minuets later, after bidding your goodbyes to Seokjin and a few others, both you and Jimin headed back towards his car and drove off, ready to get some nice ice cream for yourselves and later go back home.
"Y/n?" Jimin softly called out as rested against the passenger's seat. He thought it'd be the best if you drove since he was pretty drunk. You turned towards him, still driving as you waited for him to continue. "Did you...did you talk to him?" he asked. You immediately knew who he was referring to.
You nodded slowly, shifting your eyes back on the road right in front of you. "Wait, for real? When?" Jimin asked.
"I think when you were playing beer pong." You replied. "Ahhh... That's when you met him. What did that asshole say?" Jimin asked, his voice immediately turning aggressive.
"Nothing much, actually. He just asked me how I was and what I was doing these days. You know, it was casual small talk and thankfully Kyungseok called me in the right time and I had to leave, so that was pretty ratchet." You said, lowly chuckling.
Jimin rolled his eyes as he pictured both you and Jungkook talking. He just hated the fact that Jungkook had the nerve to talk to you again and pretend like nothing ever happened.
Pushing the glass door, you and Jimin entered the air conditioned room, a soft candy scent lingering around the air. "Take a seat, I'll order. Tell me what you want." Jimin said as you nodded. "I'll just have some bubble-gum flavoured ice cream." You replied, as you proceeded to go find yourself a seat.
Minutes later, sitting opposite to Jimin with your delightful treat between your hands, both of you devoured the sweet dessert, the cold sensation dancing around your tongue. It truly felt refreshing.
"You know what, Jimin?" you started off, still looking at your ice cream. Jimin looked up at you, waiting for you to continue. "Jungkook really did move on... I mean...He wasn't lying when he said he didn't love me anymore. I'm not surprised, but today, when we spoke, I noticed how care free he was. Like you know, how can you talk casually to someone who you've had some bad history with?" you really didn't want to say that, but at this point you couldn't hold it in either.
"Y/n....?" Jimin was confused as he skimmed through your dull face. "I really don't know what's wrong with me, but when we spoke, he apologized to me. Why would he bring it up, when he knows how hurt I would be by just the thought of it. He thinks apologising for it, despite the fact it's been 5 years, is gonna sort everything out?" now that you were talking about it, you realised one thing.
You still weren't over Jungkook.
"Y/n, don't think about it okay?.... He lost you. For all I know, he's one heck of a coward and an asshole." Jimin really hated to see you like this. Being together for almost 9 years or so, he knew quite a lot about you.
He knew how your feelings for Jungkook still hadn't completely faded away. Even though, he had heard you numerous times, going on about how much you hated Jungkook, a part of him always knew how your heart would still beat for him.
And he hated it. He hated every single bit of it.
No, he didn't have feelings for you. But as your best friend, he had every right to hate on Jungkook because knowing what Jungkook had done to you, was something so awful.
But there was something that he was hiding from you. He didn't want to disclose yet, or at least, he didn't know when exactly to tell you. There wasn't any glowing opportunity ahead of him to talk about it as of now. He was just waiting for the right time and the right situation.
"He must truly love Irene. They've been together for five years and they're engaged now. I'm happy for her." You softly smiled to yourself as you played with your spoon on your ice cream.
"Y/n, why would you be happy for her? Jungkook left you for her.... and it's her unlucky fate that she's ending up with a coward like Jungkook." Jimin retaliated.
"Coward?" you asked, furrowing your eyebrows. "Yeah, trust me, he's one heck of a coward. Just so you know, be happy that you're out of his fabricated shit." Jimin said as he continued to eat his ice cream.
You nibbled on your lips, trying to reciprocate what exactly Jimin meant, but eventually let it slide once both of you were done eating.
