"What a perfect timing." You groaned, watching how the rain hit the rough tar on the road. You sighed as you dug into your bag, taking your phone out. You dialled up Jimin, anticipating for him to pick up.
"Hey Chim, can you please pick me up? It's raining and I don't think I'm gonna get a cab any time soon." You said over the phone, a little irked. "Oh crap, Y/n I'm so sorry, but I'm still stuck at work. I think I'm gonna be back by 11 or something. Fuck, I'm so sorry." You heard him say over the line, already sensing how penitent he felt.
"Oh shoot, that's.... That's okay. Don't worry, I'm gonna try and find a cab, okay?" you said and soon ended the call with Jimin, again sighing as you looked over at the road and how wet it was getting every passing minute.
Honestly speaking, you could get back inside your library and just spend some time reading until the rain stopped, but you were getting really tired and would literally do anything for a warm shower and some quality sleep right now.
You tried locating a few cabs nearby but only failed. You made up your mind, thinking that it was best to run at a time like this. After all, your house was only three lanes away.
Jungkook stopped the car right outside the national bank as he looked through the huge raindrops that were trickling down his car's window as the wiper harshly cleared the surface. He was able to see the huge board that read, "Silkreads book café."
He squinted his eyes, trying to get a better vision and once he was able to see the huge, transparent glass walls, he realised how all the lights were switched off. He could still see the book shelves due to the bright street light that forced it's way through the glass all the way inside the library.
"Did she close already?" he asked himself, still trying to set his vision past those glass windows. He looked at the time, realising it was 9:24 pm. "Ahhh maybe she closed early cause of the rain." He concluded as he pursed his lips, a little disappointed that he couldn't get a hold of you.
Jungkook wrapped his fingers around the steering wheel as he sighed, starting the engine again. He looked around, able to see the national bank and the other surroundings. He decided to drive around for a while and explore this area so that it would become easier for him, the next time he arrives.
You jogged as both your palms were above your head and the water dropped from the sky, harshly hitting your skin. Your shoes splashed the water on the ground as the loud thudding sound burned against your ear drums.
Your eyes were blurred as the water kept coming in its way, slightly burning the corners of your eyes. You stopped in the middle, trying to catch your breath. You were already wet, what was the use of running. You decided to just walk. You were just two lanes away now.
You walked along the sidewalk, tightly holding your bag as you let the water drip down your hair. The rain seemed to have reduced a little, at least it wasn't harsh droplets anymore.
You deeply sighed, continuing to walk as you awaited to reach home as soon as possible. You walked in the middle of the sidewalk as you pouted to yourself, your energy completely drained out.
As you were walking, you could sense how there was something in sync with your footsteps. Apart from the sound of the raindrops, you could hear something else, it sounded almost like there was an echo to every step you took.
And that's when you realised, you weren't alone on the sidewalk. There was someone right behind you, probably stuck in the rain just like you. You noticed how both of your footsteps were overlapping each other's sound, almost making it sound like one.
You didn't really bother to turn around and see who it was cause you honestly didn't want to invite an awkward situation, so you simply continued waking.
But minutes later, as you were walking you realised how the person was still behind you. You looked over your shoulder, only to see a hooded man, his face covered with a mask.
The rain was still pouring as you softly gulped, turning back in the front and increasing your speed, slightly. Were you getting followed right now?
Realising the man was STILL behind you, you started to run slowly, holding your bag tightly. And at that very minute, you noticed how the man behind you started running too. At this point, you confirmed that you were actually getting followed.
Totally lost in panic, you let out short airy sighs, increasing your speed every second as you began running, trying your best to get away from him.
You were struck by deep dismay as your skin turned pale, totally out of fear. You had no idea where you were heading, you were so into running away from him you missed the lane you were supposed to take.
As you ran, you squinted your eyes as you stared at the wall in front of you.
Oh crap, it was a dead end.
You let out deep exhalations from your mouth as you could feel your heart thudding against your chest. You were frightened as you realised you couldn't go anywhere. A few meters away from the huge wall, you tripped over your own feet as you harshly landed on the wet ground, hurting your knee.
"Ow!" you groaned, tightly clutching onto your knee as you closed your eyes in pain as you sat on the ground. When you fluttered your eyes open, looking up, you spotted the outlandish man standing right in front of you, looking down at you with an ominous smirk on his face, his mask under his chin.
"What's a pretty thing like you doing alone in the rain?" he asked, crouching down to your level as he extended his palm, right about to touch your face.
"Don't touch me." you barked, moving back, still on the ground as you glared at him with sheer revulsion in your eyes and voice. The man sneered as he leaned forward.
"How dare you disrespect me, Huh?" he asked, grabbing your arms. You closed your eyes tightly, a little hurt by his harsh grip. "I'm going to make you pay." He whispered, bringing his face close to your ears.
"I said... DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME." You yelled, pushing him away from you as he fell on the ground, landing on his back. He scoffed as he stood up, his eyes filled with fury. "So you're gonna cross that line, Huh?" he asked, now walking towards you.
You looked up at him, gulping as the rain still hit your face. "You're gonna regret that, baby girl." He said, as he moved one of his foot behind, ready to aim and kick you.
You closed your eyes again, ready to feel the stinging pain against your ribs cause that's where you assumed he'd kick you. At that second you felt every single filament in your body scream in fear and terror.
But that didn't last long once you heard a violent crash and a loud grumble. You fluttered your eyes open as you saw the man who was in front of you before, lying on the ground as he cried in pain, holding the side of his chest.
Shifting your eyes a little towards the left, you saw a man standing, his shoulders varying up and down as he harshly inhaled and exhaled, glaring at the fallen man. He walked forward as he continued kicking the man.
He sat on top of him as he slapped him, repeatedly cursing at him as he punched his nose. He held his collar, making him stand up as he kicked his stomach, making the man scream out in pain.
Once the man passed out, giving up completely he turned around facing you. You were still so flustered to see everything that took place right in front of you. You were still trying to process it. He walked towards you and stood right above you.
"Jungkook?" your eyes widened as he looked down at you, no particular expression on his features. He extended his hand towards you, gesturing for you to get up. Your eyelids fluctuated as you held onto his hand and got up, a little baffled.
He intertwined your fingers together as he walked towards his car that was parked near the turning and opened the door for you to get in. "No... It's okay... I can...I can go home by myself." You hesitated, a little anxious. "Just get in, Y/n." He softly said as he walked towards the other side, getting in.
You simply got in, as you sat down. You were still so mystified by everything that had happened. You lifelessly looked at the road in front of you, still trying to collect your thoughts. Suddenly you felt an arm come around you as Jungkook pulled the seatbelt from the corner of your seat, clicking it on. "Safety first." He said, a soft smile on his face.
