“Safety first.” Jungkook said, smiling softly at you. His body was still leaning towards you, your faces only a few inches away. You got a whole clear view of how his face looked. Jungkook hadn’t changed one bit from high school, in fact, he had gotten twice as beautiful.
His face was so angelic and his features were so intricate. Currently his hair was a little damp due to the rain, but that was only adding to his whole delicacy. His lips were cherry red, the small birth mark which you absolutely loved, right below it.
You were looking at him, taking in all his beauty and you felt your heart racing. You immediately broke eye contact as you looked back in the front. “Yeah... safety... safety first.” You said, chuckling nervously.
Jungkook smiled to himself as he rested back on his seat and clicked on his seat belt, started the engine and began to drive. “You’re okay, right?” he asked, looking at you. You nodded, pressing your lips together.
“Uh... where do you... where do you live?" He asked. You looked at him, slightly confused but then you realised he had to drop you home. “You just have to take a turn on the end of this road and pass through two lanes. My house’s in the third.” You replied as he nodded.
“You could’ve just booked a cab, you know.” Jungkook softly said. “Yeah.... I know... But I couldn’t locate any near my book café.” You answered. “This surely isn’t a safe neighbourhood... You should be more careful.” Jungkook said worriedly as he shortly looked at you and focussed back on the road.
You nodded, a soft smile on your face. “Wait, do you live alone? If yes, you should probably lock all your doors and windows.” Jungkook said. “No...I.. I don’t live alone. I actually have a roomm-“ you were cut off by your phone’s ringtone.
“Just give me minute.” You said as you accepted the call, Jungkook simply nodded. “Hello?” you answered. “Y/n, did you get a cab? I mean... you’re okay, right? I’m so sorry I can’t come.” Jimin said, his voice a little rueful.
“Yeah yeah, don’t worry. I’m safe.” You said, clearly hesitating to tell Jimin that Jungkook was the one driving you home. You very well knew how much Jimin hated Jungkook and he obviously wouldn’t approve of this.
“Okay, that’s good then. Don’t make dinner, I’ll get some Chinese takeout on my way.” He said as you smiled. “Yeah, sounds good, bye Chim.” You said, a giggle escaping your lips.
After you ended the call, you noticed Jungkook turning towards you. “Chim?... As in Jimin?” he asked, a little curious. You nodded, smiling softly.
“You’re still in contact with him? Are you guys still best friends?” Jungkook asked, the same curiosity in his voice. “Yes we are still close and actually... He’s my roommate.” You said to which Jungkook looked at you, completely baffled.
“Wait what? He’s your roommate?” he asked again, just to be sure to which you nodded again. “Ahh... That’s...that’s cool I guess.” Jungkook’s voice seemed to trail off as he focussed back on the road.
He couldn’t believe the fact that you and Jimin were still so close, so close to even be roommates. He knew how much Jimin hated him, and he obviously wouldn’t allow the idea of starting over with you, even though you’d agree with it.
Not that Jimin had any power over you, but for all he knew, YOU would definitely listen to Jimin cause after all, it was him who you had lost trust in. It was Jungkook.
“Take a turn here.” He heard you say and that’s exactly what he did. He didn’t really know what to say now, the fact that Jimin was your roommate now, was really bothering him. He had so much to talk to you about, but he decided to save that for later. He was just too lost right now.
“You can stop there...” he heard you say again as you pointed towards the front, gesturing towards a small building, maybe about four floors high.
A few minutes later, Jungkook stopped the car as he turned towards you. “Thank you, Jungkook. Thank you for saving me and thank you for dropping me. I owe you.” You said, chuckling. He smiled, shaking his head. “No, that’s okay. Just be safe, okay?” he said.
You nodded, and before you could open the door and get out, a question popped up in your mind. “by the way... Jungkook... Why are you here? I mean... You know, I’ve never seen you here before.” You asked, squinting your eyes.
“Oh...um...I....uhhh...I actually had this...this meeting with my client and yeah...” he answered, internally cussing at the way he stuttered. “Oh...oh okay. I’ll be heading home, then...bye and thank you.” You said politely as you opened the door and walked towards the entrance of your apartment. Jungkook watched as you got in and waited until he saw you disappear.
After you were gone, Jungkook started the car again and decided to head back home. Today was such an exhausting day for him and to top it all of, he just discovered that Jimin, out of everyone, was your roommate.
“What a jerk.” You mumbled to yourself, thinking about the man who had misbehaved with you previously. You dropped your bag on the couch as you stretched your arms, walking inside your room. You walked towards your closet picking your favourite pajamas and towel and walked inside the bathroom, ready to take a shower.
You tossed your wet clothes off and got inside the shower, turning it on. You sighed in relief as you felt the warm water hit your body. Minutes later, after washing yourself a bit, you still stood inside the shower, enjoying the warm feeling.
You closed your eyes, allowing your body to relax under the hot water as you drowned yourself into random thoughts. Suddenly Jungkook’s face popped up in your mind.
The scene of him kicking and punching that man replayed it self over and over again. He was still so masculine and strong. You still remember the amount of fights he got into in high school and how you would always tell him not to get involved in such things.
Things were so good back then. Everything seemed so pure and so amiable. You missed the good old times. The times where there was nothing except you, Jungkook and your love. The one you thought, would be everlasting and limitless.
FLASHBACK
“Kookie, how many times have I told you not to get into fights.” Y/n said, holding a small bottle of an antiseptic as she pressed it on the small wound on Jungkook’s head, right above his eyebrow with a small cotton ball. “But babe, they were trying to get your number. You’re MY girlfriend.” Jungkook contended, a frown on his face as he crossed his arms.
“Woah, look at Jungkook being the man he is.” Jimin mocked, a smile on his face as he stood against the wall in the infirmary, watching his two best friends, one seated on the bed as the other one stood in front of him, treating his wound. “Yah Jimin, wouldn’t you do the same if someone did that to your girlfriend?” Jungkook asked, beckoning as he pouted.
“Yes, of course I’d do the same. Y/n, he’s got a point.” Jimin said chuckling. “Ugh both of you belong to same cult. I really don’t know how I’m surviving with you guys.” Y/n sighed as she closed the small bottle and sat next to Jungkook on the soft bed.
“Okay if y’all are done with being all romantic, I think we should all head back to class. We have Mr. Choi next and you know how much he hates me and Jungkook.” Jimin said with an alerting voice as both Y/n and Jungkook stood up, chuckling. “Yah Jimin, nobody is being romantic here, okay?” Y/n said, slapping his back as the three of them walked out of the school’s infirmary. “But baby, we are!!” Jungkook whined, pouting. “Ugh I’m sick of you guys.” You said, chuckling as you jogged away from them, laughing.
“Kookie?....Kookie?” Jungkook’s memory of the flashback that was replaying in his mind was interrupted when he heard Irene calling him as she shook his shoulder. He looked at her, a little dazed. “Yeah...Yeah, what happened?” he asked, lost.
“Nothing happened, but are you alright? You seemed a little lost there. How was dinner today?” Irene asked, as she rested against the bed stand, the fluffy blanket covering her body. “Yeah...Yeah it was good...” Jungkook replied as he lowered his body, completely laying down on the bed.
“Uh Irene, let’s talk tomorrow okay... I’m really tired, so how about we sleep now.” Jungkook said as he smiled at her and turned around, facing the other way. Irene was a little stumped by his response as she simply nodded and switched off the bed lamp on her night stand. This wasn’t the first time she had seen Jungkook like this.
Jungkook had his eyes open as he kept thinking about the past, about him and Jimin, about him and you and about how things were so perfect back then. He missed every single thing.
As he kept reminiscing everything, he wondered.
He wondered if he was over you, he wondered if he was still in love with you, he wondered if he could actually let you go. But, did he actually let you go? So easily?
