I entered Penchami hall thinking I'll just meet my dad's colleagues and their snobbish kids so I'll just stay on my lane and mind my business until it's time to leave. I stood at the door and scanned the hall with my eyes and my eye immediately lands on Saihou, he looks devilishly handsome when our eyes met I averted my gaze and i followed my dad to our designated table. I thought I'll just be bored but now I feel so uncomfortable with Saihou here. Why does he always show up everywhere I go like a ghost. Now i can't help but imagine how hurt my dad would have been if I had accepted Saihou to go with and denied my dad's invitation. That would have been a disaster and my dad would be hurt and disappointed that I choose a boy over him.

My dad kept introducing Latif and I to his colleagues and I had to plaster a fake smile on my face, now my cheeks hurt. We were served our food and I started eating slowly like any normal person would at a social gathering but I'm bored out of my mind. My dad on the other hand is having the time of his life out here. Latif also met one of his school mates and they are conversing cheerfully and here I am picking at my food.

A mid age woman approached us with the widest smile on her face with Saihou following close behind with his usual smirk, what is going on here please do not tell me my dad plans on giving me out to Lucufer's son as compensation for something he did and I'll be shipped off to the Mediterraneans to serve him and be his slave for life. I am horrified and shitting myself. The woman who I'm guessing as Saihou's mom adressed my dad by his first name. They are even on first name basis. Like what?
"Tijan, how are you doing?" she said, she seems like a very sweet woman but I can't say the same for her son
my dad extended his hand to Saihou and my mind immediately goes to the time he refused to shake Muhammed's hand. If he refuses to shake my dad's hand this hall won't be able to contain us tonight, but he took my dad's hand and he smiled at my dad. Thankfully

After they exchanged pleasantries that is when my dad decided to introduce us
"These are my kids, Maryam and Latif" he said proudly I love this man
I thought we would go with the flow and act like we've never met but like always he has other plan and he opened his mouth to speak
"We are friends, actually we go to the same night classes" he said matter of factly and I mentally face palmed
"Is that so" his mom says looking directly into my eyes and I didn't blink
"Yeah its true" I said smiling at her contagious cheerful nature.
"If you don't mind, can we hang out for a bit" Saihou asks my dad and his mom and not me like I don't have a say in any of this
"No I'm fine thanks" I said but his mom mischievously looks at me
"It's fine just go" his mom says
I bolted up so fast that my clumsy ass almost fell face first on the carpeted floor

Saihou's pov
I know she doesn't want to come with me but that's weird to me because until today she willingly comes with me anywhere that I want. I went out the hall and into the little gate and sat on a poolside bed. She came inside and sat opposite from me and she spoke first breaking the awkward silence
"What exactly is it that you want? " she asked
"Why are you avoiding me?" I answered her question with a question of my own
"I don't owe you any explanation because we both know we are not dating that was just for your ex girlfriend and it has been causing me some problems that I didn't bargain for that" she says all in one breath.
"I know we only did it for... that and I didn't mean to cause you any problems but wait what problems are you talking about? " I asked
"She came up to me the other time threatening me to leave you" she says again not even sparing me a glance
"What did you say? " i ask I know it's selfish of me but whatever
"I threatened her back" she says looking at me now. Maryam is very beautiful I can't lie
"So what happened next?" I asked again I just don't know what to say
"I went home what is suppose to happen next" she says standing up probably annoyed
"Okay I'm sorry" I said
"Okay but you don't have to be a jerk about everything you know" she says sitting back down.

We sat there in another wave of silence and she spoke for the fist time again because I know whatever I say would set her on edge
"My school mates think I had a foursome with you guys on Friday" She says and laughs
"I don't think you would be able to walk after that experience and that is ridiculous" I tease
"Why won't I be able to walk? You know what don't answer that, let's talk about something else" she tries to change the topic
"Yeah right, So what do you plan on doing after exams" I asked
"This is the first time you asked a serious question that is not innuendo related" she says and smiles at me
"We'll get there" I said to her
"I want to study medicine, maybe like a gynecologist or something how about you" she says
"I've always wanted to be an all star NBA player when I was a kid but the more realistic career path for me now is Accountancy and business management because I have other responsibilities" I told her honestly
"You would be such a bossy boss" she says between laughter
"Well isn't that what bosses do boss people around" I told her I know I would be bossy because I like things done my way or the highway which means I'll sack you, when you don't do what I want and how I want it.

We continue talking about our future plans for a while untilll she loosen up. I ask her a question that I have been dodging the whole night
"So what happened to your last relationship? " I ask
"What do you mean what happened" she foreigns oblivion
"You know what I'm talking about" I said to her
"Yeah I do, so his sister never really liked me and she tried to break us up so many times. There was a time we kept having problems all the time so I one day she saw me hugging Muhammed... you know that guy tha-" she tried to explain. There is something about him that I just don't like
"I know who he is" I replied
"Okay so she went and told her brother and we broke up so I dated her boyfriend and took a picture with him and they also broke up" she says
"That is very spiteful of you Maryam" I say to her and we both started laughing. We stopped laughing and just keep starring at each other and I can feel myself getting drawn to her it's almost magnetic. I leaned in and held her face between my hands. Her eyes are focused on my lips and I was an thinking this is it, just an inch closer our lips would lock. I can already feel the tension building up between us.

Just then my mom came barging in through the little gate dramatically
"There you are" she says. Why is my mom like this
