Jon had come in the night before to have dinner with Sansa but she was not well and wanted to rest , he had just fed her some broth and read a bit to her and she fell asleep . He told her that he would stop by in the morning .
Catelyn had come in and was going to sleep next to Sansa in case she needed anything during the night . She had become worried when she did not really perk up after her nap . Catleyn checked her for fever , but she seemed fine .
Jon : If she is not well in the morning we will have the master check on her .She only had some broth before falling asleep , she was saying that her stomach was still upset . But we had the same breakfast this morning and we had the same dinner the night before , so I am just wondering what she ate that would make her so ill.
Catelyn : { tears in her eyes} Yes we will get the master in the morning . I will be here with her tonight .
Jon nods and leaves .
Catelyn cannot fall asleep . She prays to the Gods not to make her child go through anything more , she has already survived through enough . She had been such a happy child and then she went to Kings Landing and even that had not turned out as Sansa had hoped . Overall , Kings Landing had been a stressful and disappointing experience as her daughter had informed her in her letters . She had stayed dutifully though even though she had not been happy , but once Ned had died the Crown had agreed to let her come home . Sansa had not been there when Ned had died and had not been with the family , she deeply regretted not seeing her father before he had passed. Then she had been kidnapped and attacked , and violated . Truthfully Catelyn did not know if Sansa fully knew what had happened to her . Sansa had suffered through some nightmares , but the extent to what she remembered was still in question . Catelyn wondered if she should be told or not , she did not know what would be best for her .
She was also wondering what was going on between Jon and Sansa . It seemed the only time she was relaxed and was somewhat herself was when Jon was there. There was an ease and familiarity that had developed that had not been there before . Catelyn was not sure if this was good or bad . She had thought that Sansa would have opened up to her siblings more than she had . Sansa and Arya had never been close , but Arya had made a real effort to be with Sansa as much as she would allow following her attack. Robb and Theon visited every day as well , but she still seemed withdrawn during their visits .
She kept thinking of everything and her mind would not turn off . Exhaustion finally took over and she fell asleep .
A few hours later Catelyn jolted awake from movement on the bed.
Sansa started thrashing and flailing in the middle of the night . She kept saying NO , NO , Help , Help and Catleyn woke her up from her nightmare .Sansa was disorientaed and sweat laden when she was finally aroused .
Catelyn : I'm here , I'm here . You're safe , you're in Winterfell , nobody is going to hurt you .
Sansa was still in a daze but did not speak , she simply nodded held Catelyn's hand and shut her eyes once more . Catleyn wrapped herself around Sansa and kept repeating that she was safe.
Morning finally came . Catleyn decided to ask one of the maids to bring the master in to check on Sansa . They both had a fitful sleep . Catleyn was exhausted and her heart hurt thinking that her child could not even get peace during her sleep.
A bit later the maid came in with Sam and breakfast . Sansa was up and Catelyn was not going anywhere until the master had checked her out.
