Duality [INFIDGET]

Chapter Two: Captured

Gadget, and the squad he was with were on their way to the Death Egg in the shuttle they boarded, they were tasked with bringing back Sonic and returning in one piece. Once the shuttle was allowed into the launch bay in the Death Egg, the pilot parked it and turned the engine off to conserve energy for the return flight. Gadget was specifically tasked by Knuckles to find Sonic, and so Gadget took off, delving deep into the base.

It was of unforseen circumstances that all the alarms started going off in the base, Gadget stopped and looked around, only to be cornered by three robots. Gadget grunted and tripped, landing on his backside, the robots fired up their weapons and continued to close in on the scarlet wolf.

In less than a second a blue blur destroyed the robots one by one, sparks flew from the battered robots as they soon blew up. Sonic landed on his feet and gave his signature grin, "Easy there! Everything's cool. Are you here to rescue me?" He questioned and Gadget nodded. "Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. It's been a while since I've seen a friendly face." Sonic beamed joyfully, as if what happened within the six months of torture didn't happen at all.

There was something about Sonic that Gadget could never understand, how he always kept his cool and his classic grin he displayed even in tough times, it was as if Sonic was hiding his own pain because he didn't want to see others suffer like he did. Gadget walked with Sonic back to the shuttle, his own ear being bombarded with voices who have heard of Sonic's safe return and were asking on how they were.

As the squad - plus Sonic - returned, Gadget was informed by his commander to preform a search and rescue in the Mystic Jungle, of course, Gadget accepted and used his wire hook to swing his way towards the deep, dark jungle. Once there, Gadget released his wire and dropped to the ground, catching his footing and starting to trek through the damp jungle.

It was beginning to turn dark, much to Gadgets protest, he didn't really like being alone in a massive jungle with no real source of light other than the bright moon that shone ahead of him. Gadget didn't find any lost civilians in the jungle, however something caught his eye hidden between the trees and vines. "No civilians found, commander" Gadget reported to Knuckles, who gave the okay to return, but Gadget didn't follow that order. Hiding between trees was a large steel base, presumably old as there was signs of moss and vines growing around the base. To Gadgets surprise, there was a room in the base that was lit up with lights and two figures could be seen but Gadget could not make out who they were specifically.

Seeing a door, Gadget turned off his earpiece and ventured to the door. He opened it with ease, which also surprised him, why was this base barely protected if there were Mobians inside? Gadget entered the old base and looked around, he heard two voices and decided to follow them to the room they were emitting from.

"I trust that everything is ready?" Came one, particularly familiar voice.

"Of course it is!" Came another, though this voice seemed...human.

Gadget inched closer to the door, which accidentally creaked open, he mentally smacked himself for doing that and slowly backed away.

"Then I will be taking my le-" The voice stopped his sentence when his large ears perked at hearing the creaking of the door. "Someone's here." He changed his sentence.

Gadget winced at being heard and backed away more, trying to tip-toe out of the building - only to be held within a flurry of red cubes and hoisted into the air. Gadget yelped and looked behind him, the jackal and the fat man known as Eggman were there, both equally pissed at having an intruder in the building. Gadget gulped and his heart pounded as he was held within the jackals grasp.

"Well, well, if it isn't the red pest I came across a few hours ago" Infinite chuckled and walked up to the struggling wolf. "Spying on us, eh? We can't have that now, can we?" He lowered Gadget to the ground but kept him within the red cubes that held him down. "Doctor, I will be taking this wolf and punishing him on my own accords. He will learn his lesson, one way -" He held up Gadgets chin. " - or another." Infinite removed his hand from the now terrified wolf and looked towards the doctor, who simply nodded, "Do what you will, Infinite, as long as that wolf does not bother me I don't care what you do." Eggman left the base in his Egg mobile.

Infinite looked at the wolf and snapped his fingers, immediately removing the red cubes. Gadget pulled himself up off the floor and narrowed his eyes at the jackal, "Infinite, huh? What a weak name" Gadget mocked, he knew he was testing death's waters but he enjoyed it while it lasted. In retaliation, Infinite slammed Gadget to the wall and whispered into his ear, "Do not test me, wolf." He growled and punched Gadget in the stomach, who doubled over on the ground and groaned. Infinite stood on Gadgets chest, applying gentle pressure, "Now, you will come with me, you're my wolf now." Infinite grabbed Gadget by the scruff of his neck and teleported to his own quarters.

Infinite's base was underground and hidden by everyone, the base was quite large for being carved underground, it had everything like a normal house; only the walls were made of metal. He had a normal kitchen, a furnished living room, comfy bedroom and bathroom. He also had a work space where he could modify his mask and his ruby, the space also held spare prototypes where he could work on if he managed to capture a candidate. He managed to shape this base using the ruby's power, and it has kept his identity safe since the war started.

Infinite dropped Gadget on the hard wooden floor and walked off to his work space, he came back with what looked like the same ruby in Infinites chest, only shaped differently. Gadget looked up at him with fear in his eyes, he managed to put two and two together and came to the conclusion that Infinite was going to experiment on him using that ruby.

"You're my test subject. You will rule this world with me without a say in it, unless I can modify your perspective on the world" Infinite chuckled and grabbed Gadget, dragging him to a sturdy table and holding him down on it using the power of his ruby. Strong metal held Gadgets wrist together on the table, keeping Gadget from thrashing them around; the same with his ankles. Infinite looked at the sight and smirked under his mask, which was unseen by the wolf, Infinite looked at the prototype and started to clean it, as it was dusty from sitting in the work space too long.

"What are you going to do to me?..." Gadget whimpered silently and watched the menacing jackal.

Infinite chuckled deeply, "Just some experiments, little wolf" He glanced at the struggling wolf. "But don't worry, I won't kill you" He reassured the wolf - well, as reassuring as you can get from a psychopathic murderer. Once the ruby was cleaned, Infinite looked at Gadgets chest, he pictured the ruby there and hummed, thinking this experiment over. He weighed the positives and negatives before deciding on what to do, he would test the wolf first to see if he is worthy of this wonderful "gift" and then he will decide on giving him the ruby and its power. Warping the bounds away he released Gadget, Gadget's eyes widened and sat up, he jumped off the table and tried sprinting for the exit - only to realise he wasn't above ground, and there was no exit.

Infinite smirked and watched the wolf panic, it was amusing to him. Soon having enough of the panicking he approached Gadget and knocked him to the ground, "Enough fretting." He grabbed Gadgets chin with his fingers, digging his gloved claws into his jaw. Gadget froze and stared at the one glowing eye that he could focus on, he clenched his fists, there was no way he wasn't going to go down without a fight. So, Gadget aimed his boot and kicked with all his might at his kidnappers crotch. The jackal groaned and dropped his threatening stance as he regained his balance from the hard kick, he stood up and held his crotch in pain, "Shit." He grumbled. "Good kick" He chuckled and looked at the wolf, who had now stood up against the wall and growled.

"I won't let you take me without a fight" Gadget spoke up sternly and looked at the jackal. Infinite seen the earpiece and swiftly grabbed it, he then crushed it within his hand, "You won't be needing this."

Gadget snarled and went to punch Infinite but missed and got struck down again by him. "Too slow on your punches." Infinite commented and brushed off his hands. "I want to make a warrior of you. Now, show me what you've got!" Infinite demanded. It was clear it was going to be a very long night for both Mobians.
