Chapter Fourteen: Love

Zero and Gadget woke up to the sound of crying, Aurora was hungry. Gadget got Aurora off Zero's - now wet - chest and walked to the kitchen while patting her back gently.

Zero got up and dried off his chest, he walked to the kitchen, seeing Gadget making some homemade baby food as Aurora sat on the kitchen table biting a wooden spoon. Zero chuckled and and tickled Auroras fluffy chest, she laughed and giggled happily, holding the large spoon in her small left hand.

Gadget came back with a small bowl of the homemade mush and got a small spoonful of it, "Here, try this" he held the spoon to Aurora, who grabbed the spoon and ate the nutrients. Zero patted his lovers back and went to make the pair actual food for breakfast, some bacon and eggs would do for them.

Gadget gently took the metal spoon from Aurora and went to fill the spoon with more food for her, he then gave it back to her and she ate the food again, this also gave the scarlet wolf time to see if Aurora is teething. As he fed her, Gadget kept looking for any signs of teeth, and to his surprise he found two small, relatively sharp teeth at the front of her mouth. "She's teething, that's probably why she's biting you and anything she can get her teeth into" Gadget commented.

"Wow, so she must be at least a few months old" Zero replied and plated up their food. "We also need to get more food and some clothes for her" he placed the plates on the table and sat down. Aurora smelled the bacon and cooed at it, she sniffed around and looked at Zero's plate.

Gadget chuckled and gently pulled her away, "Yeah" he went to sit down, he got a chair for the little one and made sure she was safe in it before eating his breakfast. Aurora looked at her food and grabbed the metal spoon, sloppily eating it - following how her parents ate but failing as she was still learning on how to use her limbs properly.

Zero finished his breakfast first and kissed his lovers cheek, "I'll go get some then in abandoned shops, stay here and keep her company while I'm gone, I shouldn't be too long" he tickled their daughter. "Alright, just be careful" Gadget smiled and went to clean Aurora when he seen that she had spilled her food over her face.

Putting on his clothes, mask and a small bag, Zero teleported to the closest ruined city.

He went to search for a food shop first. He kept low and alert in case he was ambushed by scavengers. Finding the shop, he broke inside and looked at the baby food section, he checked the use by dates and took a good few to keep stocked on them. Then, he picked up some food for him and Gadget and left.

His next target was a clothes shop, which happened to be nearby the food shop. He walked inside and found some baby clothes that Aurora could grow into, he put them in his bag and teleported home; not wanting to stay there any longer.

"We have sited Infinite at a few shops"

"Good, any shops in particular?"

"A food shop and a clothes shop, CCTV in both shops show the masked criminal looking for...baby stuff?"

"What? Why would he be looking for those...anyway, thank you, keep searching"

"Alright, team! It appears we may have an advantage point to this war. Infinite has been spotted at a food and clothe shop, what's interesting is that he mainly stuck to the baby sections of both shops. So, if this is correct, Infinite may have a child, and this child can be used to our advantage" Knuckles addressed the Resistance.

"So you're saying we kidnap the child? Use the child as bait?" Shadow spoke up, intrigued.

"Why would Infinite have a child?" Sonic questioned.

"Well, villain or not, Sonic, Mobians have their own lives, even Infinite it seems" Silver spoke up.

"We take the child, then force Infinite to surrender and stop this war" Shadow suggested.

"What about Egghead?" Sonic looked at Shadow.

"He's defenceless without Infinite, and his robots are easy to defeat" Shadow grunted and rolled his eyes. Shadows injuries healed quite quickly after his encounter with him, they eventually scarred over.

"Well then, le-"

"Wait!" Amy spoke up. "Don't you think it's wrong to kidnap a child?" she questioned them. "Not to mention the effect it would have on the child afterwards" she made a valid point.

Knuckles sighed, "We have no other choice, Amy. Unless you have another plan?" he turned to her.

"I..." Amy gulped. "No..." she sighed. "I just think it's unfair on the child"

"Sorry, Amy, but it's the only good plan we have left" Knuckles sighed.

Zero returned in a flash of light, he took off his mask, "Gadget?" he called out as he put his mask on his bedside table.

"Over here!" Gadget replied from the living room. He was currently playing with Aurora on his chest.

Zero smiled and walked to his family, he sat beside Gadget and kissed his cheek. "I got some things from up above" he brought over the bag, Gadget looked inside it. "Just some food and clothes that she'll grow into" Zero commented as Gadget pulled out the clothes.

Aurora looked at the clothes and touched them, feeling the fabric, only now did Zero notice she was wearing a seemingly fresh nappy. Gadget followed Zero's glance and spoke up, "She had a little accident on me..." he blushed embarrassingly. "So I washed and changed her using the ruby's power to spawn a quick nappy" he explained, much to Zeros faint chuckling. Gadget blushed more and gently smacked Zeros arm, "Heyyyyy it wasn't funny" he pouted playfully and chuckled.

Zero just chuckled more, "I guess that was something I forgot to pick up, the ruby shall do as a secondary source for now" he smiled. "I'll go tomorrow to pick up some"

Gadget nodded, Aurora watched her parents and tilted her head, she crawled over to Zeros lap and curled up, purring gently like a cat. Gadget smiled and went to put the food away, they were gonna try the clothes on Aurora when she woke up.
