Chapter 26: Firefly

After crying and falling asleep on Edward's lap, he placed me under the bed sheets and kissed my forehead as a good night sign.

The next morning, I didn't feel like going to school. In fact, I didn't even know how to tell this to the guys. I felt hollow, like if my life was slowly dropping on me. It's exaggerated, but I just don't want to loose my friends... And I don't want to loose Ian.

I made the morning routine much slower than usual. I looked at my face in the mirror. I looked awful. Bags under my eyes and hollow eyes. The sadness radiates from my eyes easily.

I packed my things and left home without a sound. I didn't really want to face my parents.

I get to school a few seconds before the bell. I didn't even go to my locker. I headed straight to the classroom. I got there and the teacher had just arrived. The girls and Hunter were talking and laughing around, but when they saw me they all frowned.

"Samantha? What ate you and spat you out? You look awful..." Sara frowned deeper as I approached.

I sat in my chair and shrugged in return.

They all frowned again.

Hunter scooted closer to me. "What's wrong?"

I bit my lip as tears threatened to show up. I gulp and quickly replied, "I'll tell you later."

They frowned but nodded. The whole period they kept glancing at me. I tried to look like I was paying attention to the teacher, when I was more like just breathing and blinking.

"Please explain what happened to you." Keithlin said as we sat outside at lunch hour. We were at our ninja spot.

I gulped. "How do I put this as easily as possible..."

"Just tell us Sami. Please, we are very worried." Taylor pleaded.

I pursed my lips. "Dad talked to Edward and me yesterday."

Keithlin gasped. "He finally told you guys he lost his job?"

I nod. "But that's not all of it. He said if he didn't find a job near or here in the next two weeks... We'll have to move."

"WHAT?!" They all screamed in return.

"What the heck is wrong with your parents?! You can't move!!!" Keithlin screamed waving her arms around like a mad woman.

"You ain't going anywhere!" Sara screamed crossing her arms over her chest.

"You can't move! We'll loose a part of us!!" Hunter yelled making a pout.

My tears well up. It's really overwhelming to see that my friends care about me.

"Oh Samantha..." Said Taylor. "So, what now?"

I shrugged. "I suppose we try to find a good job as soon as possible. We have less than fourteen days. "

"Well! Let's do this!" Sara screamed standing up and punching the air. She giggled. "Hehe, that looked like Mario!"

We all laughed. I know my friends will always be there for me. They will help me do the impossible and accompany me 'till the end.

We did a group hug, really cliché, but it was a way to express we were here for each other.

"Hey guys!" Jake came running and sat on Keithlin's lap making her gasp surprised.
